Lithuania: 3rd round of Pabandom iš Naujo! (update)

Tonight the Lithuanian national final heats “Pabandom iš Naujo!” will continue with it’s 3rd heat. You can watch it here and here at 20.00 CET. 12 songs will compete; six out of them will go to one of the semifinals. The songs are:

  1. Basas Pegasas, “Ponai”
  2. Rūta Loop, “Call me from the cold”
  3. Vasha, “Nepaleidi”
  4. Geleibra, “Aš jaučiu tave”
  5. Vilija Matačiūnaitė, “Šimtas vienas”
  6. Emilija Valiukevičiūtė, “Overload”
  7. Gintarė Korsakaitė, “Fantasy eyes”
  8. Živilė Gedvilaitė, “Lioness”
  9. Monika Liu, “Sentimentai”
  10. Gebrasy, “Into your arms”
  11. Mėnulio fazė, “Give me a sign”
  12. Lolita Zero, “Not your mother”

The songs and singers that go through to the final are in bold letters.

 

Gebrasy took part in the 2019 semifinal. In 2021 he became 2nd in the final.
Lolita Zero was 4th in 2017.
Rūta Loop reached the semifinals in 2018, in 2020 she reached the 4th place.
Vilija Matačiūnaitė took part in 2005 (7th), 2014 (winner), 2017 (3rd heat). She represented Lithuania in the 2014 ESC but didn’t reach the final with “Attention”.
Emilija Valiukevičiūtė reached the first heats in 2018 and the semifinals in 2019.
Gintarė Korsakaitė took part in 2011 and 2013 (semifinal).
Živilė Gedvilaitė reached the semifinal in 2018 and 2019.

Eurovision 2025 in Geneva or Basel

Swiss broadcaster SRG has announced the final two candidates to host the 69th Eurovision Song Contest: Basel and Geneva. SRG has narrowed down the initial bids to these two cities. One of them will host the contest in Switzerland in May 2025, with the final decision to be made in late August. Cities had until the end of June to submit their bids based on a detailed list of requirements. Important criteria included arena facilities, public transport, sustainability, hotel availability, security, waste management, investment, event experience, and city support. A Eurovision Song Contest working group reviewed the bids from Basel, Geneva, Zurich, and Berne/Biel. This review involved both quantitative and qualitative criteria, as well as the cities’ commitment and creative ideas. The goal is to make Eurovision 2025 an unforgettable event. The accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) supervised the assessment of the bids. Following the recommendations of the working group, the ESC 2025 Steering Committee, led by SRG Director General Gilles Marchand, chose Basel and Geneva as the final candidates.
