Biography

Julia Savicheva (also spelled Yulia Savicheva) is a Russian pop singer and actress. She first gained fame as a teenage finalist on the TV talent show Star Factory in 2003. The next year, she represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004. Over the years, Russian pop star Julia Savicheva has released many hit songs and albums and has appeared on television and in film.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Julia Savicheva was born on 14 February 1987 in Kurgan, Russia, into a musical family. Her father was a drummer, and she first performed on stage at the age of four alongside his band. She began singing and dancing as a young child. By age seven, her family moved to Moscow, where she continued to pursue music throughout her childhood. She also trained in dance, becoming a two-time Moscow champion in ballroom dancing as a child.

Breakthrough on Star Factory (2003–2004)

In 2003, Savicheva gained national attention as a contestant on Star Factory 2 (the Russian Fabrika Zvyozd 2), a popular music reality show produced by Maxim Fadeev. She reached the finals and performed original songs like “Vysoko” (“High”), “Korabli” (“Ships”), and “Prosti za lyubovʹ” (“Forgive Me for Love”), which became hits on Russian radio charts. One of these songs, “Vysoko,” even earned her a Golden Gramophone music award in 2003. In 2004, she represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul. Her song “Believe Me” finished 11th in the Eurovision final and brought her international exposure.

Debut Album and Pop Success (2005–2007)

After Eurovision, Julia Savicheva built on her success with new music. She released her debut album Vysoko (High) in 2005. That same year, her ballad “Yesli v serdtse zhivyot lyubovʹ” (“If Love Lives in the Heart”), from a TV drama soundtrack, became a nationwide hit that stayed on the charts for months. She also scored a major radio hit with the upbeat song “Privet” (“Hello”), which stayed at #1 for ten weeks. In 2006, she followed up with a second album called Magnit (Magnet), which was well received by fans and critics. That year, she won Best Female Singer at the 2006 MTV Russia Music Awards. By 2007, Savicheva was one of Russia’s leading young pop stars, touring extensively and performing in countries across the CIS. She even gave concerts in Japan as part of a cultural exchange festival in 2007.

Acting and Television Projects (2008–2013)

By 2008, Savicheva had released three studio albums and solidified her place in the Russian pop scene. She also began branching out into acting and television. In 2009, Julia made her acting debut as the lead in a youth musical film called First Love. That same year, she won the Russian edition of Dancing with the Stars, showcasing her talent as a dancer. She continued to release popular singles during this time – for example, her song “Goodbye, Love” won a Song of the Year award in 2009. Savicheva remained a familiar face on TV, and in 2013 she was the runner-up on the celebrity impersonation show One to One. She impressed audiences by imitating other famous singers. In addition, she lent her voice to the Russian dub of the animated film Epic in 2013, expanding her work into voice acting.

Later Albums and Recent Work (2014–Present)

Julia Savicheva has remained active from 2014 to the present. She continued to record new music, including the album Lichnoye… (Personal) in 2014 and CLV (short for “C’est La Vie”) in 2020. In total, Savicheva has released seven studio albums as of 2025, when she came out with her latest album titled 9. During this period, she also appeared as a mentor and judge on music television shows – for example, in 2019 she joined the panel of the TV contest New Star. After more than two decades in show business, Julia Savicheva remains a popular and respected pop singer in Russia. Her music ranges from tender ballads to upbeat pop-rock anthems, and she continues to engage fans with her clear voice, heartfelt songs, and energetic stage presence.
