Biography

Francesco Gabbani is an Italian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, born in Carrara. He began his artistic career as a musician, playing blues, funk, and jazz.

At eighteen, Gabbani signed his first record deal and recorded his first album with the group Trikobalto. The video clips for two singles from this album were broadcast on major Italian music television networks, allowing the band to perform at leading festivals across the country. In 2010, Trikobalto released their second album and subsequently toured France, including an opening performance for Stereophonics.

Later that year, Gabbani left the band to pursue a solo career and signed a new record deal. In 2011, he released four singles, paving the way for his first solo studio album, Greitist Iz, which was released in 2014.

In 2016, Gabbani participated in Sanremo Giovani with the song Amen, winning the Nuove Proposte category. The track became a commercial success, reaching the 14th position on the Italian charts and earning both gold and platinum certifications. The song was included in his second studio album, Eternamente ora.

Following this success, he embarked on a promotional tour, opening concerts for artists such as Franco Battiato, Francesco Renga, Simply Red, and Anastacia. During this period, he also composed the soundtrack for the film Poveri ma ricchi and collaborated as a songwriter for other artists.

In 2017, Gabbani returned to the Sanremo Festival, competing in the Big Artists section with Occidentali’s Karma. The song won the festival and gained widespread popularity, topping the Italian charts for three consecutive weeks. It also achieved success across Europe. Gabbani represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, finishing in sixth place despite being one of the pre-contest favorites.

Following Eurovision, he released his third studio album, Magellano, on April 28, 2017. Three more singles were extracted from the album, and he embarked on a 44-date tour. In May 2018, he released Selfie del selfie, originally a hidden track on Magellano.

In 2019, Gabbani released the singles È un’altra cosa and Duemiladiciannove. On January 31, 2020, he announced his fourth album, Viceversa. Shortly afterward, he competed at the Sanremo Festival 2020 with the title track, finishing in second place. A third single from the album was released in June. To support the new release, Gabbani embarked on an 11-date summer tour across Italy.

On September 3, 2021, he released the single La rete, serving as a preview of his fifth album. That same year, he contributed to the soundtrack of the television series Un professore with the song Spazio tempo.

On March 11, 2022, Gabbani released his fifth studio album, Volevamo solo essere felici. A nationwide tour, Francesco Gabbani Live 2022, followed in June. On April 8, 2022, he debuted as a television host, co-presenting a show with Francesca Fialdini.

Throughout 2023, Gabbani continued performing and working on new projects, expanding his presence in both music and television.

In 2024, Gabbani announced his sixth studio album, Equilibrio Perfetto, which incorporates elements of orchestral pop and electronic music. The album was preceded by the single Inaspettato, which gained widespread airplay. That summer, he embarked on a tour covering major Italian cities and select European locations.

During 2025, Gabbani made his fourth appearance at the Sanremo Festival, presenting a new song that marked a stylistic evolution in his career. Meanwhile, his television presence expanded with a new music-themed program where he interviewed fellow artists and performed live acoustic renditions of his songs.
