Ben & Tan in Denmark

Ben & Tan won the Danish national final. The final had a special touch, because due to the corona virus it was transmitted without audience. The winning song “Yes” was written and composed by Emil Lei, Jimmy Jansson and Linnea Deb. Sweden will be represented by The Mamas!

They received the trophy out of the hands of a very happy John Lundvik, the man they backed in last year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Aksel Kankaanranta wins the Finnish national final. The song “Looking back” is written and composed by Joonas Angeria and Connor McDough. Finland will make a choice tonight!

Tonight, the Finnish entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen. After two years where the artist was already known, six participants will now battle for the ticket to Rotterdam. The show starts at 20:00 CET and can be watched here. The contestants are: Catharina Zülke, “Eternity” Erika Vikman, “Cicciolina” Aksel Kankaanranta, “Looking back” F3M, “Bananas” Sansa, “Lover view” Tika, “I let my heart break” The winner will be chosen by a 50/50 televote and international jury.

Denmark will select it’s entry

Tonight, 10 artists will perform…. for an empty hall. One of them will be the Danish entrant for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, but due to the corona virus crisis the Danish final Melodi Grand Prix will be held without an audience.Nevertheless, you can watch the show here. It starts at 20:00 CET. The ten contestants are: Isam B, “Bølger” Ben & Tan, “Yes” Maja & De Sarte Sjæle, “Den eneste goth i Vejle” Benjamin Kissi, “Faith” Emil, “Ville ønske jeg havde kendt dig” Sys Bjerre, “Honestly” Jamie Talbot, “Bye bye heaven” Sander Sanchez, “Screens” Kenny Duerlund, “Forget it all” Jasmin Rose feat. Roxorloops, “Human” Isam B wrote and composed “Should have known better”, the song Soluna Samay brought at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. Roxorloops took part in the 2006 Belgian national finals as a member of Beatoxic. The song for Emil was co-written by Tim Schou, who represented Denmark in 2011 as a member of the band A Friend In London. Three songs, chosen by a 50% televoting and 50% experts jury, will head to a superfinal. Jury and televoters will select the winner out of these three.

Melodifestivalen final tonight!

Melodifestivalen, the Swedish national selection, will come to an end tonight. Twelve songs will compete in the Friends Arena in Stockholm. The result will be decided by international juries and televoters/app voters. The show starts at 20:00 CET and can be watched here. The twelve songs are: Victor Crone, “Troubled waters” Paul Rey, “Talking in my sleep” The Mamas, “Move” Mohombi, “Winners” Hanna Ferm, “Brave” Méndez feat. Álvaro Estrella, “Vamos amigos” Dotter, “Bulletproof” Robin Bengtsson, “Take a chance” Mariette, “Shout it out” Felix Sandman, “Boys with emotions” Anna Bergendahl, “Kingdom come” Anis Don Demina, “Vem e som oss”  Mohombi took part in 2005 as a member of the group Avalon and in 2019 as a solo singer. Also Hanna Ferm and Anis don Demina took part in 2019. Méndez was in Melodifestivalen 2002, 2003 and 2018. Dotter and Felix Sandman both took part in 2018. Mariette took part in 2015, 2017 and 2018 and always reached the final. Robin Bengtsson represented Sweden in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, as did Anna Bergendahl in 2010. Victor Crone took part in the 2015 Melodifestivalen and represented Estonia in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. The Mama’s were the backing vocals of John Lundvik in the same year.

Portugal decides!

The last one of tonight, and in fact the last one of the national final season, is Portugal. They will have a show that starts at 22:00 and can be watched here and here. Eight songs will compete in order to get the ticket to Rotterdam. Expert jury and televoters will together decide the winner. Bulgaria presents entry

Victoria Georgieva, the singer who will represent Bulgaria in the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, has presented her entry. The song, a ballad, is called “Tears getting sober”. Music and lyrics are by Victoria herself, Borislav Milanov, Lukas Oscar and Cornelia Wiebols. Milanov also wrote the German entry, and was responsible for three previous Bulgarian entries: for Poli Genova (2016), Kristian Kostov (2017) and EQUINOX (2018)
