This afternoon at 15.15 CET, Poland will select it’s Eurovision title. You can watch the show here. The last three weeks, three finalists were chosen. First they will sing a random song, after that they will present their Eurovision Song. The three contestants are: Kasia Dereń, “Ufaj mi” Alicja Szemplińska, “Empire” Albert Černý, “Lucy” Last year, Albert Černý represented the Czech Republic as a member of the band Lake Malawi.
The results of the first Portuguese semifinal are in. The four songs, going through to the final, are mentioned in bold: MEERA, “Copo de gin” Filipe Sambado, “Gerbera amarela do sul” Ian Mucznik, “O dia de amanhã” Bárbara Tinoco, “Passe-partout” Blasted Mechanics, “Rebellion” Elisa, “Medo de sentir” JJaZZ, “Agora” Throes + The Shine, “Movimento”
Ana Soklič is going to represent Slovenia. An expert jury chose two songs out of the twelve presented: “Voda”, sung by Ana Soklič and “Man like U”, sung by Lina Kuduzović. The televoters chose Ana Soklič to represent their country. The song is written by Ana herself and composed by Ana together with Bojan Simončič. Ana took part before in the national final in 2007 as a member of the Diona Dim Team. Slovenia will perform in the first half of the first semifinal. It is Go-A who will represent the Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam this year. They were chosen by both jury and televoters to get the ticket. Their song is called “Solovey” and is written and composed by Taras Shevchenko and Kateryna Pavlenko. The full results of tonights contest are: Go-A, “Solovey”, 12 pts. In Sweden there are results. Surprisingly, Nanne Grönvall was the first victim tonight. Also Slovenia will select a song tonight. The show will start at 20:00 CET and you can watch it here. Out of 12 songs, two will be chosen by an expert jury. The final decision out of these two will be made by the Slovenian televoter. The show will be hosted by Klemen Slakonja. Inmate took part last year. Lina Kuduzović represented Slovenia in the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Božidar Wolfand Wolf participated in the 1986 Yugoslav national final. Tinkara Kovač could be found on the Eurovision Stage in 2014 with the song “Round and round”. This is the 5th time she participates in EMA.
Tonight, Ukraine decides after two semifinals. The show starts at 18:00 CET and can be watched here. Sergey Prytula will be your host as six songs will go for the title. A jury, made up of Andriy Danylko, Tina Karol and Vitaliy Drozdov, will decide 50% of the results, where televoters decide the other 50%. The contestants are: Krutь, “99” Jerry Heil, “Vegan” Go-A, “Solovey” David Axelrod, “Horizon” Khayat, “Call for love” Tvorchi, “Bonfire” Khayat took part last year but failed in the semifinal. Tonight he is one of the favorites to win the ticket to Rotterdam.
Tonight, two more semifinals will be held: in Sweden and in Portugal. We start with Sweden. The show starts at 20:00 CET and can be watched here. It is the last regular semifinal; next week we will have a second chance contest (Andra Chancen) and the week after Sweden selects it’s entry. Victor Crone took part in 2015 and represented Estonia last year in the international final. Nanne Grönvall represented Sweden in 1996, with the band One More Time. Besides, she took part numerous times in Melodifestivalen, both with the band Sound of Music and as a solo singer. She also took part once in A Song For Europe, the Brittish national final.
