Biography

Séverine Ferrer (born 31 October 1977) is a French singer, actress and television presenter who has been active in show business since childhood. Born in Montpellier and raised on the Indian Ocean island of Réunion, Ferrer got an early start in entertainment. She was crowned Mini-Miss Réunion at age seven, and by nine she was hosting children’s TV programmes on local channels – first Séverine Club on Antenne Réunion and then Les Enfants du Soleil on RFO Réunion. In her early teens, her family relocated to Paris, where Ferrer landed her first role on mainland French television at 16, appearing in the teen sitcom Classe Mannequin in 1993. Over the next few years she picked up small acting parts in both cinema and TV. Notably, Ferrer had bit roles in French films such as Beaumarchais, l’insolent and Delphine 1, Yvan 0 (both 1996), and made guest appearances on television series like Une famille formidable in 1996.

Ferrer’s national breakthrough came as a television presenter. In 1997, at age 19, she became the host of Fan de… on the M6 network – a weekly pop-culture programme devoted to popular singers and celebrities of the moment. Riding the late-1990s boyband wave, Fan de… featured acts like Alliage and 2Be3 and proved a hit with young audiences. Ferrer was the face of the show for eight years (19972005), becoming one of the era’s prominent TV personalities. During this period, she also co-presented other entertainment programs, including the Dance Machine music special in 1997 and segments of the reality show Loft Story 2 in 2002. By the mid-2000s, Ferrer had become a well-known media figure in France, equally recognized for her acting and hosting work.

Alongside television, Ferrer explored a music career. In 2004, she released a self-titled pop album and even launched a clothing line for pregnant women that same year. Her foray into music led to an unexpected opportunity: in early 2006, the Principality of Monaco selected Ferrer to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens. She performed “La Coco-Dance,” a trilingual pop song with Tahitian influences, complete with choreography by Bruno Vandelli. The lively performance, featuring Ferrer in a tropical-themed outfit, was Monaco’s entry in the Eurovision semi-final. However, it finished 21st out of 23 and did not advance to the final.

After her Eurovision stint, Ferrer broadened her career into theatre, radio and entrepreneurship. In 2011 she made her stage debut in the French production of The Vagina Monologues in Paris, and went on to tour with that show for multiple seasons. Over the ensuing years, she appeared in a string of stage comedies (known as “pièces de boulevard” in France), building a reputation in live theatre as well. Around the same time, Ferrer returned to broadcasting in new forms – she hosted a programme on Vivre FM called Studio Pirates in 2012 and presented the morning show on Voltage radio in 20132014. In 2015, she ventured into talent management by founding My Agency, a modelling agency for children and teens. This agency, which she continues to run, added yet another facet to her multifaceted entertainment career.

Ferrer has remained a familiar face in French entertainment through the late 2010s and 2020s. In 2019, she won a celebrity edition of the cooking reality show Un dîner presque parfait (“Dinner Party Wars”). That same year, she co-starred in the stage comedy C’est pas ce que tu crois alongside actress Danièle Evenou, and served as host for Born in 90, a nostalgia concert tour reviving 1990s pop stars in arenas around France. In 2020, Ferrer took on a new kind of TV project by launching a cooking show titled On dîne chez Séverine (”Dinner at Séverine’s”), in which she prepared recipes with guest celebrities; the show later moved to the Marmiton TV channel in 2024.

Ferrer’s versatility continues into the present day. In 2024, she returned to the recording studio to release a new single, “À la vie,” produced by DJ Esteban. She also co-hosted a 2000s-themed live concert tour called I Gotta Feeling, celebrating early-21st-century pop hits. The following year, in 2025, Ferrer came back to national radio as the presenter of Chérie Génération 2000 on Chérie FM, a show revisiting the music of the 2000s era. Over the decades, Séverine Ferrer has worn many hats – actress, singer, TV and radio host, stage performer and even modelling agent – cementing her status as a versatile figure in French entertainment.
