Biography

Elnur Hüseynov, born on March 3, 1987, in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, is an Azerbaijani singer renowned for his versatile vocal abilities. From an early age, he exhibited a profound passion for music, leading him to pursue formal education in piano and voice.

In 1992, at the age of five, Elnur was admitted to a special music school for gifted children associated with the Turkmenistan Conservatory, where he received training in piano. In 1999, his family relocated to Baku, Azerbaijan. Initially, Elnur enrolled in a medical college in 2000, focusing on dental technology. However, his dedication to music prevailed, and in 2001, he joined the Asaf Zeynalli Music School. During this period, he also worked briefly at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater. After graduating in 2004, Elnur expanded his skills by training as a stylist and hairdresser.

Elnur’s career gained significant momentum in 2003 when he won the “Sing Your Song” competition on Azerbaijan’s Lider TV, marking a pivotal milestone in his burgeoning career. In 2005, he collaborated with the group Prestij to record the song “Besdir,” composed by Eldar Mansurov, which was later accompanied by a music video.

In 2008, Elnur, alongside Samir Javadzadeh, was selected to represent Azerbaijan in its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest. Performing the duet “Day After Day,” they achieved an impressive 8th place in the final. Following the contest, the duo parted ways, and Elnur continued to explore various musical opportunities.

In December 2009, Elnur announced plans to further his musical career in Ukraine, though he eventually returned to Azerbaijan. In June 2010, he portrayed Phoebus de Châteaupers in a musical adaptation of Victor Hugo’s “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame” at the Heydar Aliyev Palace, showcasing his versatility as a performer.

A significant turning point in Elnur’s career occurred in 2014 when he participated in “O Ses Türkiye” (The Voice of Turkey). His outstanding performances captivated both judges and audiences, leading him to emerge victorious in the competition. This achievement revitalized his career and expanded his fan base across the region.

In 2015, Elnur was internally selected to represent Azerbaijan once again at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Hour of the Wolf,” securing 12th place in the final. That same year, he performed “Avropa Oyunları qədim Bakı torpağında” (European Games in Ancient Baku Land) alongside Samir Javadzadeh and Honored Artist Sevda Elekberzadeh, commemorating the inaugural European Games held in Baku.

Continuing his artistic journey, Elnur released the music video for his song “Vibration” in 2017, featuring lyrics by Diana Hajiyeva and music by Isfar Sarabski. In 2018, he unveiled the single “Dreamer,” further enriching his discography. The following year, he collaborated with Ali Nasib on “Try to Be Yourself,” released on April 26, 2019.

In 2020, Elnur teamed up with Ilgara Kazimova for the track “Deniz ver.” The subsequent year, he joined the Sonar House Collective, and their debut single “Since I Know You” was released on February 1, 2021.

In February 2023, Elnur performed alongside the “Mavi Ürəklər” blue choir, comprising members with autism, in a heartfelt concert. On April 7, he released his new song and accompanying video, “Monster Pop.” Additionally, he graced a youth festival organized in honor of the Heydar Aliyev Year with his performance.

In 2024, Elnur Hüseynov continued to engage with his audience through various platforms. On December 29, he released a festive track titled “Yeni İl” (“New Year”), aiming to spread joy during the holiday season.
