🇳🇴 Norway: Melodi Grand Prix starts

The Norwegian national final Melodi Grand Prix starts today. We will be able to watch three heats with 6 songs each. Half of the songs will go through to the final.  The show starts at 19.50 CET and you can watch it here. These are the six entries of tonight: Mathilde SPZ feat. Chris Archer and Slam Dunk sing “Woman show” Fredrik Halland sings “Stranded” Myra sings “Heart on fire” Gothminister sings “We come alive” Ingrid Jasmin sings “Eya” Margaret Berger sings “Oblivion”   Gothminister took part in the 2013 semifinal.Margaret Berger represented Norway in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. Reiley will represent Denmark in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. He will sing the song “Breaking my heart”. He won after an exciting evening. Denmark will perform in the first half of the second semifinal. Alessandra Mele wins Melodi Grand Prix 2023

The suspense was building in Trondheim Spektrum, but we have a winner! Alessandra Mele won the whole contest with 283 points. She won the jury vote with 104 points, and the televote with a stunning 179 points landslide. She will represent Norway with “Queen of Kings”.  Right before winning MGP, she heard that her song was number 1 in the spotify charts. Not only in Norway, but in a lot of countries her song is a viral succes. Maybe in yours awell!  Here are the full results: Alessandra, “Queen of kings”, 233 pts. Tonight is the night Norway select it’s song. After three semifinals, it is time for the Melodi Grand Prix final. Out of 9 songs, the Norwegian Eurovision entrant will be chosen. The show starts at 19.50 and you can watch it here. Tonight was the last night for artists to qualify for the Melodi Grand Prix 2023 final in Trondheim. Norway has chosen it’s qualifiers, and here they are:    Alte Pettersen is back in the final of Melodi Grand Prix! Last time we saw him was two years ago in 2021. Then he managed to get pre-qualified for the final, but this year he got all the support from the public.  Tonight he sung his ballad, that later turns into a pop song called “Masterpiece”.    From the start of her music carreer it’s drag queen Skrellex. She’s trough with her pop song “Love Again”. Skrellex burns up the stage as she dances with her four backing dancers. Not only her dance moves, but the disco balls on stage light her up aswell.   At last but not least we have Eline Thorp. As she’s an up coming artist in Norway, you can already tell she has a great amount of fans for “Not Meant To Be”! Will it be enough for her to take the trophy next week?   Next week we have nine finalists batteling it all out in Trondheim. Who are you rooting for? Let us know, and we’ll see you next week.

Elsie Bay is back! MGP semi final 2 results

the clock strucks 9 P.M. in Norway, and the Melodi Grand Prix results came in.  Jone, Elsie Bay, and Swing It are trough to the final in Trondheim! There were some familliar faces in the second semi final, and one of those faces managed to qualify! Elsie Bay isn’t new to the Eurovision family, as she competed in Melodi Grand Prix last year with her song “Death Of Us”. She then reached the second round of the final, but will “Love You In A Dream” take the victory this year? Jone was the second qualifier of the night! His EDM pop song “Ekko Inni Meg” was voted for by a lot of his fans. The staging has a neon kind of vibe, and we expect him to go even bigger in the final.   And last but not least we have the fun nostalgic retro band Swing It that we will see again in Trondheim. Their 1920’s inspired party song “Prohibition” made a whole part of Norway swing indeed.

Tonight’s first Melodi Grand Prix semi final was won by Ulrikke, Unami Tsunami & Alessandra Mele.  seven songs competed, but only three songs went trough to the final. Ulrikke, winner of Melodi Grand Prix 2020, competed again tonight. She’s expected to win this years season again with her song “Honestly”. Unami Tsunami qualified awell. They competed with a Boyband dance pop song.  However they’re not the only ones that competed with a dance song tonight. Show opener Alessandra Mele won a “finalepass” aswell with her dance song “Queens of Kings”.   Tonight the 2017 winner of MGP competed again with his song “Freaky For The Weekend”. The song was produced by JOWST, and sung by Byron Williams Jr. They didn’t manage to qualify.

Three countries continue their national selection: Norway, Lithuania and Israel. You can choose one to watch…. or watch all of them! The first one is Norway on 19:50 CET. You can watch the 3rd semifinal here. Again, duels will decide which song will enter the final. The contestants tonight are: Alexandru Kristin Husøy Sie Gubba Thomas Løseth & Erika Norwich Lithuania starts at 20:00 CET and you can watch it here and here. The contestants are: The Backs, “Fully” Bernardas, “Dad, don’t be mad at me” Justina Žukauskaitė, “Breathe in” Rokas Povilius, “Vilnius calling” KaYra, “Alligator” Lukas Bartaška, “Where is that change?” Evgenya Redko, “What about us” Ruslanas Kirilkinas, “Soldier’s heart” Nombeko Augustė, “Reikia man” Vitalijus Špokaitis, “Nemušk savęs” Aistė Pilvelytė, “Everlastingly” The roop, “On fire” We saw Justina Žukauskaitė and  Lukas Bartaška  before in 2019,  Ruslanas Kirilkinas in 2010 and 2016,  and The Roop in 2018. The show is a little bit more complicated. It starts at 20:15 CET and you can watch it here. In this round every contestant will perform with the Idan Raichel Project. And yes, they can be familiar to you as they performed in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest as an interval act. Thursday, we saw the first round, but that one is not finished yet. So far, it looks like Ohad Shragai, who composed last year’s entry “Home” for Kobi Marimi, is out of the race. But Dorel Saadon still has to perform in the 1st round: if he gets less than 58% of the votes, he is out and Ohad is saved.For the 2nd show, the contestants are: Eden Zohar Sivan Ella-Lee Lahav Gaya Shaki Moran Aharoni Raviv Kaner The person with the lowest percentage, has to leave the show.

Alessandra Mele wins Melodi Grand Prix 2023

The suspense was building in Trondheim Spektrum, but we have a winner! Alessandra Mele won the whole contest with 283 points. She won the jury vote with 104 points, and the televote with a stunning 179 points landslide. She will represent Norway with “Queen of Kings”.  Right before winning MGP, she heard that her song was number 1 in the spotify charts. Tonight’s first Melodi Grand Prix semi final was won by Ulrikke, Unami Tsunami & Alessandra Mele.  seven songs competed, but only three songs went trough to the final.
