Tomorrow the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest takes place in the St Jakobshalle in Basel. 15 countries compete for a spot in the final. One of them is the Netherlands, represented by Claude.
But who is he? Let’s give him a spotlight.
Childhood.
Claude Kiambe was born on September 19, 2003 in Boma, Congo, and is the second youngest in a family of 7 children. After Claude’s father died in the civil war, his mother was left to care for the family alone.
In 2013, when Claude was only 9, the family fled to the Netherlands. They spent a year and a half in an asylum seekers’ center in Alkmaar, after which they moved to Enkhuizen, where Claude obtained his Secondary school diploma.
Growing up in a musical family, he developed a passion for music at an early age, which serves as an outlet for him.
Career.
From 2017 to 2022, Claude participated in various national talent shows and auditions, where he eventually comes into contact with producer Arno Krabman and lyricist Joren van der Voort. Together with them he wrote his first big hit “Ladada”, which was released at the end of 2022.
From that moment on, Claude has performed in various television (music) programs and at festivals. In November 2024 he launched his first debut album “Parler français”. He now has 6 number 1 hits to his name.
Eurovision.
Will he make it to the final? Despite a somewhat difficult start, we are convinced he will. And whatever happens on Saturday…. C’est la vie!
