Biography
Serebro is a Russian girl group that was formed in 2006 by music producer Maxim Fadeev. That same year, the group gained international attention when they represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens. Their song “Song #1” finished in third place. The original members were Elena Temnikova, Olga Seryabkina, and Marina Lizorkina.
After Eurovision, they signed with Fadeev’s label and continued building their career. In 2007 and 2008, the group released several singles. Their first album, OpiumRoz, came out in 2009. The songs included both Russian and English lyrics. The group became known for their bold music videos and changing style.
In 2009, Marina Lizorkina left the group for personal reasons. She was replaced by Anastasia Karpova. Serebro stayed active and began gaining more international attention. They started performing outside of Russia, in places like Eastern Europe and Asia. Their songs became popular on YouTube and other online platforms.
The second album, Mama Lover, was released in 2012. The title track became a big online success. The music video, where the three members dance in a car, went viral. The song charted in several countries, including Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. Serebro gained fans in Western Europe, South America, and even Japan. They performed in countries such as Israel, India, Mexico, and Poland.
The group continued to release English versions of their songs. Tracks like “Gun,” “Mi Mi Mi,” and “Candy” also found fans outside of Russia. Especially “Mi Mi Mi,” released in 2013, became a viral hit and was used in commercials and videos around the world. By then, Serebro had grown from a local Russian act into an international pop project.
After 2012, the line-up changed often. Elena Temnikova left the group in 2014, followed later by Anastasia Karpova. New members joined, including Daria Shashina and Polina Favorskaya. Olga Seryabkina remained the only original member. She also helped write many of the songs.
In 2016, the third album Sila tryokh was released. The group remained popular in Russia and kept a loyal international fanbase. However, in 2019, it was announced that the project would end. Maxim Fadeev closed his music label and ended his work with all the artists, including Serebro.
In 2023, Fadeev announced a new beginning for the group. The new line-up includes Elizaveta Kornilova, Anna Dubrovskaya, and Daria Zimina. With this formation, Serebro started releasing new songs and performing again. The style is different from before, but the group continues under the same name, keeping the story of Serebro alive.
