Early Life in Portugal
Nuno Resende was born in 1973 in Porto, Portugal. He is an only child and grew up speaking both Portuguese and French. As a boy, he attended a French school in Porto. Move to Belgium
Resende’s family moved to Belgium when he was 12 years old. This move opened new opportunities for him. He continued his education in Brussels and eventually became a Belgian citizen. Nuno Resende built a thriving career in French musical theater. From 2000 to 2002, he was an understudy in the hit musical Roméo et Juliette, de la Haine à l’Amour in Paris. He then joined the cast of Les Demoiselles de Rochefort in 2003. His talent stood out, and he soon took on leading roles in other productions. In 2007, Resende played the title role in the musical Aladin at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. He also starred in a stage production of Grease in 2008. Furthermore, he was part of the rock opera Mozart, l’opéra rock from 2009 to 2011. In 2012, he portrayed a character named Snake in Pascal Obispo’s musical Adam et Ève: La Seconde Chance. These shows made him well-known in the Francophone musical theater scene.
Eurovision Song Contest 2005
In 2005, Nuno Resende represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest. He performed the song “Le Grand Soir” (meaning “The Big Night”) on the Eurovision stage. However, he did not advance to the final of the competition. He finished 22nd in the semi-final out of 25 contestants. This Eurovision appearance gave Resende wider exposure and experience on an international platform.
Success on The Voice France
Nuno Resende reached a new level of fame in 2013 through the TV show The Voice: la plus belle voix in France. He competed in the second season of The Voice France and impressed both the coaches and the audience. Under coach Florent Pagny’s guidance, Resende made it to the finals. He finished in third place overall on the show. This achievement brought him a surge of popularity in France.
