Biography
Luiz Ejlli was born on 12 July 1985 in Shkodër, Albania. Showing musical talent early, he attended the Prenk Jakova secondary school of music in Shkodër. His rise to fame began in 2004 when he won Ethet e së premtes mbrëma, the Albanian version of the Idol franchise. That same year, Ejlli entered Albania’s national song festival, Festivali i Këngës, where he finished as the runner-up with the song “Hëna dhe Yjet Dashurojnë”.
Ejlli returned to Festivali i Këngës in 2005 and won its 44th edition with the power ballad “Zjarr e ftohtë” (“Cold Fire”). This victory earned him the opportunity to represent Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens. At the contest, Ejlli performed “Zjarr e ftohtë” in the semi-final on 18 May 2006, but did not advance to the final, placing 14th in the semi-final.
Ejlli continued to be active in Albanian music competitions. He participated again in Festivali i Këngës in 2008, performing the duet “Një jetë” (“One Life”) with Juliana Pasha and achieving second place in that year’s contest. In 2010, Ejlli teamed up with Pasha once more at the Kënga Magjike song festival. Their duet “Sa e Shite Zemrën” (“How You Sold Your Heart”) won the competition’s first prize as well as the critics’ award, adding another accolade to Ejlli’s music career. That same year, he took on a public service role: Ejlli was appointed by the Albanian government as a First Secretary for Culture, Tourism and Arts (a cultural attaché) at the Albanian Embassy in Paris, France. He served in this diplomatic post starting in 2010, which marked a hiatus from regular musical output.
After several years away from the limelight, Ejlli re-emerged in the public eye through reality television. On 24 December 2022, he became a contestant on the second season of Big Brother VIP Albania, a celebrity reality competition aired on Top Channel. During his time on the show, Ejlli even wrote and recorded a new love song titled “Me Ty” (“With You”), dedicated to fellow contestant Kiara Tito, a television presenter who became his love interest on the show. The song was released on Valentine’s Day 2023 and resonated with fans. In the Big Brother VIP finale on 6 May 2023, Ejlli was crowned the winner of the season. In a grand finale twist, he married Kiara Tito on live television the same night as his victory, a moment that captured widespread media attention. Ejlli’s Big Brother win revitalized his fame nationwide, effectively launching a new phase of his career as a beloved media personality.
Building on his renewed popularity, Luiz Ejlli soon ventured into acting and new music projects. In 2023 he made his acting debut, playing a character named Besi in the Albanian romantic comedy film Në Kuadër Të Dashurisë (Within Love). On the music front, Ejlli returned to recording studios and live stages. He released several new singles, branching into soulful ballads and pop duets. Notably, in mid-2024 he released the song “Me Fal” (“Forgive Me”) under the SBS Entertainment label. In early 2025, Ejlli followed up with a heartfelt ballad titled “Dy Fjalë” (“Two Words”), which was released on 9 April 2025. “Dy Fjalë” was well received by the public, quickly amassing tens of thousands of views online and positive fan feedback.
