About
Biography
Jennifer Serrano (born 1983 in Mieres, Asturias, Spain) – known professionally as Jenny – is a Spanish pop singer. From a young age she pursued music, eventually moving to Barcelona to train under vocal coach Helen Rowson. In the mid-2000s she relocated to Andorra, where she worked as a waitress in the town of Escaldes-Engordany while seeking singing opportunities. Virtually unknown in the music industry at the time – she had no prior commercial success in either Spain or Andorra– Jenny got her break in 2006 by auditioning for Andorra’s Eurovision Song Contest selection. A demo recording she made with a friend caught the attention of producers at the Andorran label MPX, leading to her being shortlisted by the national broadcaster (RTVA) as a potential Eurovision representative.
In February 2006, Andorran media reported that Jenny had been internally selected by RTVA to represent Andorra at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens. Her entry was “Sense tu” (Catalan for “Without You”), a power ballad composed by Spanish songwriter Rafael Artesero with lyrics by Joan Antoni Rechi. The choice was confirmed publicly on March 8, 2006 during a special televised gala titled Alguna cosa batega, where Jenny’s participation was officially announced.
In the lead-up to the contest, Jenny engaged in a promotional tour to build support for “Sense tu.” She performed on television in Malta and the Netherlands, including an appearance on Malta’s Lejn il-Eurovision show on 30 April 2006. Despite a confident performance, the small principality once again struggled to advance. Andorra failed to qualify for the final.Â
After Eurovision 2006, Jenny remained active in music and public appearances, though on a more modest scale. In late 2006 she featured on a collaborative single “Ara És Nadal” (Catalan for “Now It’s Christmas”), recorded by the Andorran pop-rock band Lexu’s. While “Sense tu” was released as a CD single by the Catalan label Música Global that year, Jenny did not go on to release a full album. She continued to perform occasionally at local events and remained a beloved figure among Eurovision fans in Andorra.
Over the years, Jenny has made various media appearances reflecting on her Eurovision experience. In 2021, for example, she joined all of Andorra’s past Eurovision representatives in an online reunion interview, where they collectively looked back on their Eurovision journeys and even urged Andorra to return to the contest. Jenny described her 2006 Eurovision stint as an “incredible experience” and shared behind-the-scenes anecdotes from Athens, recalling how criticism of her original stage costume in the Andorran press led the delegation to make last-minute wardrobe changes.
Nowadayss, Jenny remains active in creative fields. She has ventured into lifestyle and fashion projects and is involved in influencer marketing, all while cherishing her identity as a one-time Eurovision artist.Â
