Biography
Evdokia Kadi (Greek: Ευδοκία Καδή; born 1981 in Nicosia, Cyprus) is a Greek-Cypriot singer.
Her professional singing journey began in 2001 while she was studying at the University of Cyprus. In those early years, Kadi performed at numerous concerts in Cyprus and abroad, sharing the stage with well-known Greek and Cypriot artists. By 2006, she had joined the CyBC Folk Orchestra as a lead singer, further establishing herself in the local music scene. These experiences in her home country laid the foundation for her later success on the international stage.
In early 2008, Evdokia Kadi’s career reached a breakthrough when she was selected to represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest. Her entry, “Femme Fatale,” was an upbeat LaĂŻkĂł-style pop song (Greek folk-pop) with a French title. Kadi won the Cypriot national final by a narrow margin, earning the right to perform at Eurovision in Belgrade, Serbia. The entry finished 15th in the semi-final with a total of 36 points and did not move on to the grand final.Â
After Eurovision, Kadi continued to build her musical portfolio through live performances and new releases. In August 2008 she performed in Greece alongside popular singer Nikos Kourkoulis at the Poseidon nightclub in Athens, expanding her presence beyond Cyprus. Around this time, she also began working on her first studio album, initially planning for a release by the end of 2008. In the following years, Evdokia Kadi returned to the recording scene with a series of singles. She released the song “Taxidepse Me” in late 2011, followed by “Tha Se Agapao Aionia” in April 2012. Later in 2012, she came out with another single, “Ke Paradinome,” which means “And I Surrender,” showcasing her continuing evolution as a contemporary laĂŻkĂł-pop singer. These tracks paved the way for her debut full-length album. In mid-2013, Kadi finally released an album featuring 17 new songs, marking an important milestone in her discography. She remained active in the music industry throughout the 2010s – in fact, in 2018 she released a self-titled album Evdokia with 16 tracks, further expanding her body of work.Â
