Biography

A Young Star from Limassol

Constantinos Christoforou was born on 25 April 1977 in Limassol, Cyprus. From a young age, he developed a strong interest in music, learning to play instruments including the guitar and piano, which later played a role in his compositions. His professional journey started early. He was still a student when his first single, “Tora pou milas,” came out in 1994. The song quickly gained him local attention and encouraged him to pursue music full-time. His debut album, O, ti m’afora, followed in 1996 and became a landmark release. It became the first domestic release by a Cypriot artist to achieve triple platinum certification in his native country. Clearly, Constantinos had arrived.

Eurovision Debut and the Anna Vissi Connection

Also in 1996, Constantinos took a major step forward on the international stage. He represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 with the song “Mono Yia Mas,” finishing ninth. Around the same time, he built a significant professional connection with one of Greece’s biggest stars. He accompanied Anna Vissi in Cyprus and in her winter performances with Sakis Rouvas in Athens, and went on to serve as her permanent support act for all her Greek and international concerts until 1999. This period gave him invaluable experience performing in front of large audiences and introduced him to the wider Greek music market. It was the perfect launch pad for what came next.

The Boy Band Years: One

In 1999, Constantinos made a bold career move. Producer Giorgos Theophanous invited him to become the lead singer of the pop group One. It was the first boy band in the Hellenic music world. The band signed to Minos EMI and gained strong popularity in both Cyprus and Greece. They released three albums, all of which went Platinum in both Greece and Cyprus, scoring number one hits in both countries. As part of One, Constantinos also returned to Eurovision in 2002, when the group represented Cyprus in Tallinn with the song “Gimme,” finishing in sixth place. The boy band chapter proved that he could thrive not just as a solo act, but also as part of a successful group.

Solo Success and Songwriting

After leaving One in 2003, Constantinos wasted no time. His first solo album after the band, I Agapi Sou Paei (Love Suits You), came out in September 2003 and included “Pote min les pote,” a duet with Anna Vissi. It earned Platinum certification in Cyprus. His 2004 album Idiotiki Parastasi entered the top five in the Greek charts. In 2005, he represented Cyprus at Eurovision for a third time as a solo artist with “Ela Ela (Come Baby).” Beyond performing, Constantinos also built a strong reputation as a songwriter. Among others, Anna Vissi recorded his song “Erimi Poli” in 2003 for her double platinum album Paraksenes Eikones, while Giannis Parios also recorded one of his compositions that same year.

Continued Releases, Television and Recent Activity

Constantinos kept active across many areas of the entertainment world. In spring 2006, he released the single “Thes na kanoume sxesi,” which became his first Gold certification as a solo artist in Greece. it was in summer 2007, when he won Song of the Year at the Cyprus Music Awards for “Stasou ena lepto,” and shortly after served as the opening act for Bryan Adams at his grand concert in Cyprus. Since 2015, he has served as a judge on the MEGA Channel Cyprus children’s talent show DanSing Junior. In 2020, he reunited with One to release the song “Billy Bam Bam,” which received airplay across Greece and Cyprus. Most recently, he competed in the Greek national selection for Eurovision 2025 alongside Kostas Karafotis with the song “Paradeisos,” finishing eighth. Constantinos remains one of the most enduring figures in Greek-Cypriot pop music.
