Biography
Borislav “Bora” Dugić, born on June 10, 1949, in Đurđevo, Serbia, is a celebrated Serbian musician renowned for his exceptional skill with the flute. His profound influence on both traditional and contemporary Serbian music has solidified his status as a cultural icon.
From a young age, Dugić exhibited a deep passion for music, particularly the flute. After completing his education in mathematics, he relocated to Kragujevac, Central Serbia, where he served as the secretary of the cultural organization “Abrašević.” His remarkable talent soon propelled him to Belgrade, leading to his involvement with the Grand Folk Orchestra of Radio Television Belgrade.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dugić has released numerous albums and performed at countless concerts worldwide. His music seamlessly blends traditional Serbian melodies with contemporary elements, captivating audiences across the globe. In 2008, he graced the Eurovision Song Contest stage alongside Jelena Tomašević, performing the song “Oro,” which secured a commendable sixth-place finish.
Dugić’s contributions extend beyond live performances; he has composed music for various films and television series, including “The Kosovo Battle,” “All the Best about the Deceased,” and “Vuk Karadžić.” His collaborations with esteemed artists, such as Jordi Savall, further underscore his versatility and commitment to preserving and innovating within the Serbian musical tradition.
In recognition of his unwavering dedication to Serbian culture, Dugić has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Order of St. Sava in 2013. He is married to Milanka, with whom he shares two children: Jasmina, a costume designer, and Bojan, a Berklee College of Music graduate.
