Biography

Arsenie Todiraș, known by his stage name Arsenium, is a Moldovan pop singer, songwriter, and composer born on July 22, 1983, in Chișinău, Moldova. Growing up in a supportive family with his mother (a doctor), father (an engineer), and younger sister, Arsenie dreamed of becoming a famous singer from a young age. His musical journey began at 16 when he joined the Moldovan folk band Stejareii, playing the double bass and performing on major stages in Moldova. At 17, he started taking singing lessons under Larisa Shulga, who recognized his vocal talent and introduced him to Dan Bălan, a pivotal moment in his career.

In 1999, Arsenie, then the youngest member, joined the pop boy band O-Zone alongside Dan Bălan and Radu Sîrbu. Initially gaining popularity in Moldova and Romania, O-Zone achieved global fame in 2004 with their Eurodance hit “Dragostea din Tei,” which topped charts in multiple countries and reached #3 in the UK. The band’s follow-up single, “Despre tine,” also became a Top 10 hit. O-Zone sold millions of records but announced their breakup in March 2005 due to personal reasons, prompting Arsenie to pursue a solo career under the stage name Arsenium.

Arsenium’s solo debut came in 2005 with the single “Love Me … Love Me …,” which incorporated elements of the Russian folk song “Kalinka” and charted in Germany and France. In 2006, he represented Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens with the song “Loca,” performed alongside Natalia Gordienko and Connect-R. The entry finished 20th with 22 points but reached #4 in Romania’s charts. That same year, Arsenium released his debut solo album, The 33rd Element, in Romania and Eastern Europe and competed in Dansez Pentru Tine, the Romanian version of Dancing with the Stars, where he took second place.

In 2008, Arsenium released “Rumadai,” a Eurodance track that became a hit, reaching the Top 100 in Germany and Austria and gaining popularity in clubs across Europe. He continued to release music, including the 2014 Russian-language single “Do rassveta” with Sati Kazanova, which garnered millions of views, and collaborations like “What Is Love” (2016) and “Bon Ami” (2018). Since 2019, he has performed under the stage name Atika Patum, particularly in Russia, while remaining a prominent figure in Moldova and Romania.

Arsenium’s work extends beyond performing. He has composed music for projects like the Dutch TV series Baantjer (1995), David Guetta and OneRepublic’s I Don’t Wanna Wait (2024), and the Spanish TV series El verano de tu vida (2004). Known for his versatility, he has collaborated with artists like Holograf, Bella Santiago, and Mianna on tracks such as “O zi” (2022) and “Maracuya” (2021). His discography includes hits like “Bella Hadid” and “Lumea Asta,” with songs charting in Romania and Russia.

Standing at 6’1” (1.85 m), Arsenium is noted for his charismatic stage presence and dedication to music. As of 2022, he was reported to be single with no children, focusing on his career. His net worth has grown significantly, primarily from his music and soundtrack contributions, though exact figures are unavailable. Arsenium continues to evolve as an artist, blending Europop, dance, and international influences while maintaining a strong fanbase in Eastern Europe and beyond.
