Renowned for her significant impact on the Armenian music scene, Emmy has been labeled a “pop princess” and an “Armenian pop icon.” Her career in music began in 1993 with the release of her first song and video, “Hayastan,” propelling her into the limelight and leading to numerous awards in Armenia, Russia, Turkey, Europe, and beyond. Emmy’s early career was marked by her involvement with the all-female folk-pop quartet Hayer, with whom she performed from 1994 to 2000. This period was integral to her development as an artist and helped establish her as a formidable talent in the Armenian music industry. Apart from her singing career, Emmy is also a businesswoman. She founded and runs the Emmy-B Production Center, a music production company dedicated to discovering and nurturing young musical talents in Armenia. Her commitment to fostering new artists underscores her influence and dedication to the Armenian music scene. Emmy’s journey in the Eurovision Song Contest has been a notable aspect of her career. She first participated in the Armenian national final for Eurovision in 2007, where her song “You’ve done it” achieved a respectable fourth place. In 2010, she teamed up with singer Mihran for the pre-selection of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, performing the song “Hey (Let Me Hear You Say),” which garnered the endorsement of international superstar Ricky Martin. Despite their impressive showing, they finished second to Eva Rivas. The pinnacle of her Eurovision journey came in 2011, when Emmy represented Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf, Germany. Unfortunately, her performance on May 10 did not qualify for the final, marking her as the first Armenian Eurovision act to miss out on this stage. Despite this setback, Emmy’s career continued to flourish, and she remains a beloved and influential figure in Armenian pop music. In May 2013, Emmy released a new single, “Qez gta”. At the end of 2013, she released a new, special christmas/newyear album called “Nor tari”. In 2014, Emmy expanded her career into television, serving as a judge on the Armenian edition of The X Factor during its third season. This role allowed her to share her expertise and insights with aspiring singers, further cementing her status as a key figure in Armenian pop music. In the summer of 2014, she was voted person of the year 2013 by the readers of Luxury Magazine. In September, she released the song “Sari aghjik”. In June 2015, Emmy released a new song: “Hayeli”. In August 2016, the single “LA Yerevan” was released, followed in December by “Benefis”. A year later, Emmy performed at the Silk Road Indie Music Festival in Chengdu, China. She also performed at the Panarmenian games in 2019.
