He was born on July 4, 1992, in Glyngøre, Denmark, to Moroccan parents. Basim’s music career began in 2008 when he participated in the Danish X-Factor. His performances on the show were impressive, which led him to finish in fourth place. After X-Factor, he signed a recording contract and released his debut album, “Alt det jeg ville have sagt” (All I would have said), in 2008. His second album, “Befri dig selv” (Free Yourself), followed in 2009. Both albums included songs that became popular in Denmark. Basim reached international fame when he represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 with the song “Cliche Love Song”. He finished in 9th place, a respectable position that boosted his popularity further. After Eurovision, Basim continued to work on his music. He released the single “Picture in a Frame” in 2014, which was a moderate success. In the following years, he released several other singles, including “Kød & Blod” (Flesh & Blood) in 2016 and “Comme Ci Comme Ca” and “Aji Aji” in 2017. He was born in New York City to an American soulsinger and a Hungarian model. For much of Kállay’s early life, his father was globe-trotting, performing music with renowned artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, Jeff Beck, and Lou Reed, among others. Occasionally, Fernando would have Kállay accompany him on these trips, offering his son a glimpse of his musical world. He would take Kállay to Detroit, showing him the birthplace of his career. These experiences deeply embedded the essence of Motown in Kállay’s being. In 2010, Kállay visited Hungary to care for his ailing grandmother. During his stay, a television advertisement inviting gifted singers to participate in the national talent competition Megasztár caught his attention. Kállay’s career took off when he finished fourth in Megasztár, subsequently signing a contract with Universal and permanently relocating to Hungary. Between 2000 and 2002, Sebalter showcased his bass skills with a Swiss hard rock ensemble, The Stalkers. From 2002 to 2012, he switched to playing the fiddle for a Swiss folk rock group, The Vad Vuc. During his tenure, he was part of three album releases and took part in numerous tours. Sebalter then left The Vad Vuc in 2012 to embark on a solo journey. Meanwhile, in 2005, during his university days, he co-hosted a youth TV program titled Le vostre vacanze on the Swiss TSI channel. In November 2013, Sebalter’s “Hunter of Stars” was disclosed as one of the three entries for the Swiss national selection by the Italian Swiss broadcaster RSI. The song made it to the national final. Sebalter and his band staged the song at the national final show on 1 February, winning the selection. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, he made it to the grand final on 10 May. Sebalter secured the 13th position. In July 2014, he brought out the single “Saturday”. She impressed the judges and the audience with her vocal prowess and charismatic stage presence, making her way to the live shows and eventually finishing in fifth place. Her journey on The X Factor exposed her to a global audience and created opportunities for her to collaborate with numerous established artists in the industry. Topi Latukka, a key figure in the band’s formation, brought together a group of like-minded musicians. This idyllic retreat became the birthplace of Softengine. After a few years of practice, writing, and performing locally, Softengine achieved a remarkable feat in 2014, representing Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest. Their performance on the grand stage marked an important milestone in the band’s journey, amplifying their name to international audiences. The momentum continued into 2015 when Softengine released their debut album. While the journey of Softengine has been a testament to their collective talent and shared passion, it has not been without change. Eero Keskinen and Henri Oskár, both instrumental in the band’s formative years and early success, left the band in 2016. In 2017, the band made a tour throughout Finland. She began her musical journey at a young age, winning a competition at the age of nine. Noticing her talent, producer Bojan Adamič offered her an extended engagement, but her parents declined due to her young age. Later, she was encouraged by composer Danilo Kocjančič, who, along with lyricist Drago Mislej-Mef and Marino Legovič, wrote the song that earned her the award for most promising performer at Melodije Morja in Sonca (Melodies of the Sea and Sun). In 1997, she signed her first record contract and released her debut album, which earned her a gold award and two Zlati Petelin awards. With the song “Vetr z juga” she took part in EMA, the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. She then collaborated with the world/jazz/rock project Terra Mystica, earning two more Zlati Petelin awards. Her second album was released in 1999, which received gold and later platinum status. In the same year, she participated in EMA again, where she became 2nd with “Zakaj”. As Tinkara became more involved in creating her own music and lyrics, she signed with Dallas Records (EMI/Virgin Slovenia). Her third album “Na Robu Kroga”, which featured five hit singles and corresponding videos, was released under the label. She participated in EMA again, her song “Sonce v očeh” reached a 5th place. During this time, she also performed 30–50 concerts per year, collaborated with Carlos Nunez, and became the first Slovenian artist to have a special one-hour TV show dedicated to her on German television. Her fourth album, “O-range”, was introduced at a grand concert. The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) selected one of the songs from the album “O-range” as one of the top ten in the pop-rock category among 11,000 entries. Tinkara also began making inroads in the Italian, Greek, Macedonian, and Croatian markets following the licensed release of the “O-range” album by EMI International. She competed in the international music festival Megahit in Turkey in 2003 with the song “Reason why,” finishing in 5th place out of 14 countries. In 2004, for her fourth concert at Cankarjev Dom, she invited Ian Anderson, the lead singer of Jethro Tull, whose music had greatly influenced her decision to learn the flute. She also participated as a guest in his orchestral solo performances and Jethro Tull group concerts in Croatia, Italy, Austria, and Germany. In the same year, she released “Enigma”, a special four-language project with a limited edition, exclusively for Slovenia and Italy. Later that year, she performed in front of a 185,000-strong crowd at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican at the first meeting of Pope Benedict XVI with young people, being the only foreign guest and flutist soloist with the Vatican Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mons. Frisina. In 2009, she released a compilation album of her greatest hits, and in 2012, an album called “Rastemo” featuring re-interpretations of hits from Slovenia and former Yugoslavia. In 2013, she won the award for best performer at the Melodije Morja in Sonca festival and released an album called “Zazibanke” with a selection of Istrian, Furlan, and other folk lullabies. In 2014, she represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Spet/Round And Round’ after winning the Slovenian EMA selection. She managed to qualify for the finals, where she ended up in the penultimate place. In the summer of 2014, she performed at Melodije Morja in Sonca, opening the event with the song Mars and Venera. After her Eurovision performance in 2014, she released a new song “2X2”, performed with Tomaž Klepač and the Children’s Choir of OŠ Koper. They also recorded a video clip. Their parents nurtured their interest, enrolling them in music schools to hone their talent. Their big break came in 2006 when they won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest at just nine years old. Their winning song, “Vesenniy Jazz” (Spring Jazz), made them instantly popular in their home country and across Europe. In 2007, the Tolmachevy Sisters appeared in the Children’s New Wave competition, where they took the second spot. The following year, they appeared as Snow Maidens in the Russian New Year’s Eve television show “Yolki Plyuschi” and participated in various music festivals, both domestically and internationally. As they grew older, the Tolmachevy Sisters expanded their repertoire and style, moving from childlike songs to more mature pop ballads. This evolution was reflected in their 2014 Eurovision Song Contest entry. They represented Russia with the song “Shine” and finished 7th overall. Despite some political controversy surrounding Russia at the time, the Tolmachevy Sisters received strong support from the audience and viewers, solidifying their reputation as talented and charismatic performers. Since 2016, they teach children in singing at the Studio Sisters Maria Anastasiya. Composed of Lorent Idir, François Djemel, and Patrick Biyik, the group is characterized by a mix of punk, electro, and rap sounds. TWIN TWIN began their artistic careers with cinema: they were camera assistants and made a film with Why Not Productions. François later worked as a bassist in various rock and hard-rock bands. Lorent experimented with slam poetry and writing, and he published his first novel “Un nageur en plein ciel” with Rivages/Noir editions. Their encounter with saxophonist François Jeanneau changed the game and inspired a new creative dynamic in the twins, which would later lead to the formation of the group. Twin Twin was formed in 2009, initiated by Lorent and François who were then playing in their band called Chimère in Montreuil. It was during their meeting with beatboxer and drummer Patrick Biyik that Twin Twin was born. The group’s first composition, “Vive la vie”, launched the group to explore the capital and seek popularity. In addition to music, the group adopted a very personal visual style, favoring colorful and vintage stage outfits. That same year, they won several awards: the SFR Young Talent Award and the Lance-toi en live competition, which led them to open the shows for VV Brown and BB Brunes. Over the following years, they supported several artists such as Stromae, Shaka Ponk, and Philippe Katerine. The trio also won the Prix Paris Jeunes Talents 2010 and were invited to perform at Solidays for two consecutive years, during the 2011 and 2012 editions. The group immediately marked by their joy of living and contagious optimism both in their music and in their daily life. The interviews they give for TV or websites are another opportunity for them to express their good mood. Before the release of their first EP entitled “By My Side”, two clips were released: ZXR in February 2010, and “By My Side” in November 2011. The third title of the EP, “Comme toi” involved a collaboration with Lexicon. In April 2013, the group’s first album was released: “Vive la vie”, edited by Warner Music France. On March 2, 2014, the group was announced as the French national final for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014, with the song “Moustache”. They finished last in the Eurovision Contest with a score of two points. After Eurovision, Twin Twin went to New York to compose their second album. In December 2014 and January 2015, they played in many clubs in the city while writing new songs. It was in New York that they met Jillionaire from Major Lazer, and in 2016, it was with him that they produced the tracks that make up their second opus. They wanted to recapture the energy of their beginnings, punk, saturated guitars (Soundsystem, Die Trying), but also hip-hop (Weed in My Pocket, Beretta Gucci) and ska, dub, reggae influences (Easy Life, Always Say No, Nowhere to Go) that they mix.
