Severina Vučković, born on April 21, 1972, in Split, Croatia, is a prominent Croatian singer-songwriter and actress. She began her music career in the late 1980s, gaining national recognition with her debut album “Severina” in 1990. Over the years, she released several successful albums, including “Dalmatinka” (1993), “Trava zelena” (1995), and “Djevojka sa sela” (1998), solidifying her status as a leading figure in the Croatian pop music scene.
In 2006, Severina represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens with the song “Moja štikla,” finishing in 12th place. The performance blended traditional Croatian musical elements with contemporary pop, showcasing her versatility as an artist.
Following Eurovision, she continued to evolve her musical style, incorporating various genres such as pop, turbo-folk, rock, electropop, disco, cabaret, and ethno. Her 2008 album “Zdravo Marijo” and 2012’s “Dobrodošao u klub” received critical acclaim and commercial success. In 2019, she released the album “Halo,” further demonstrating her adaptability and enduring appeal.
Severina’s personal life has also been in the public eye. She was in a relationship with Serbian businessman Milan Popović from 2010 to 2012, with whom she has a son, Aleksandar, born in 2012. In 2015, she married Serbian footballer Igor Kojić; however, the couple divorced in 2021.
Throughout her career, Severina has been recognized for her contributions to music and culture. In 2006, the Croatian weekly Nacional listed her among the 100 most influential Croats, referring to her as “the only bona fide Croatian celebrity.” In 2015, she was the most searched person on Google in Croatia and Slovenia.
