Paolo Meneguzzi, born Pablo Meneguzzo on December 6, 1976, in Stabio, Switzerland, is a Swiss-Italian singer renowned for his contributions to pop music. He grew up in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland and later in Varese, Italy, where his passion for music flourished from a young age. ​
In 1996, Meneguzzi’s career took a significant leap when he won the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile with the song “Aria, Ariò.” This victory opened doors to the Latin American music scene, leading to the release of his debut album, “Por Amor,” in 1997. He continued to build his presence in Latin America with subsequent albums like “Paolo” in 1997 and “Emociones” in 1999, which sold over a million copies. ​
Meneguzzi’s Italian debut occurred in 2001 when he participated in the Sanremo Music Festival’s Young Artists section with the song “Ed io non ci sto più,” securing the seventh position. This performance paved the way for his Italian-language album “Un sogno nelle mani” the same year. He gained further recognition with singles like “In nome dell’amore” in 2002 and “Verofalso” in 2003. His 2003 album “Lei è” achieved double platinum status, selling over 200,000 copies. ​
In 2004, Meneguzzi returned to the Sanremo Festival with “Guardami negli occhi (Prego),” finishing fourth. His continued success led to another Sanremo appearance in 2005 with “Non capiva che l’amavo.” In 2007, he secured the sixth position at Sanremo with the song “Musica,” which became the title track of his fourth Italian album, released the same year. ​
In 2008, Meneguzzi represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade with “Era stupendo.” Despite not advancing to the final, his participation enhanced his international profile. That year, he also released the album “Corro via,” which achieved platinum status.Â
Post-2008, Meneguzzi continued his musical journey with the release of “Miami” in 2010, showcasing a blend of pop and dance rhythms. In 2011, he celebrated his career with the compilation album “Best of: Sei amore,” featuring his greatest hits and new tracks. His 2013 album “Zero” marked a return to his musical roots, offering fans a fresh yet familiar sound. ​
Beyond his recording career, Meneguzzi has been involved in various projects. In 2015, he founded the Pop Music School in Ticino, Switzerland, aiming to nurture young musical talents. He also authored a book titled “Sì o no? Questo è il problema,” blending autobiography and fiction.
In 2016, Meneguzzi celebrated 20 years in the music industry, marking the occasion with a tour in Chile and the release of the single “Dedicada a ti.” He continued to engage with his Latin American audience, reflecting his enduring popularity in the region. ​
In 2018, he collaborated with Swiss rapper Maxi B on the single “Lunapark” and with singer Simone Tomassini on “Estate Rock & Roll,” showcasing his versatility and willingness to explore different musical styles. The following year, he released the single “Supersonica,” followed by “Il coraggio” in 2020, demonstrating his continued creativity and relevance in the music scene. ​
Throughout his career, Paolo Meneguzzi has sold over two million records worldwide, participated in five editions of the Sanremo Music Festival, and performed in numerous concerts across Europe and Latin America.
