Biography
Magdi Rúzsa was born on November 28, 1985, in Vrbas, Serbia. She belongs to the Hungarian minority living in Serbia. Her full name is Magdolna Rúzsa, but she is known simply as Magdi Rúzsa.
In 2006, she participated in a famous Hungarian talent show called Megasztár, where she impressed people with her powerful and unique voice. She won this contest, and her first album, “Ördögi angyal,” was released later that same year. The album became very popular in Hungary.
One year later, in 2007, Magdi represented Hungary at the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki, Finland. She sang her own song called “Unsubstantial Blues” and reached ninth place, bringing Hungary back into the Eurovision final.
After Eurovision, in 2008, Magdi released her second album called “Iránytű,” which also became a success. She continued releasing new music and became well-known for her emotional and personal songs. Her songs often mix pop and rock with influences from Hungarian folk music.
In 2011, she released an important album titled “Gábriel,” which included many popular songs and showed her maturity as an artist. Two years later, in 2013, another successful album named “Tizenegy” came out. Magdi continued performing sold-out concerts and touring all around Hungary and nearby countries.
Magdi is known for her strong voice, deep emotions, and meaningful lyrics. She regularly performs at major Hungarian music festivals, such as the Sziget Festival in Budapest. In 2018, she gave a memorable concert at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna, one of Hungary’s biggest venues.
In recent years, Magdi has continued releasing new music. In 2021, she presented her album “Karma,” again receiving praise from both fans and critics.
