Lidia Kopania (born May 12, 1978, in Koluszki) is a Polish singer. She started her music career at 16, recording the anthem for the Miss Teen Poland pageant, where she won the title of Miss Journalists. Soon after, she collaborated with Dariusz Grabowski, a vocal coach, to refine her singing skills.
In 1998, she released early tracks W tej samej rzece and Przypadkowi przechodnie with composer Robert Janson. That year, she also debuted her single NiezwykĆy dar. Her early career included performances supporting the band Ich Troje.
From 2003 to 2006, Lidia was the lead singer of Kind of Blue. The group released their debut album, Beating the Morning Rush, in Germany in 2004. They participated in the John Lennon Talent Award and gained recognition in Poland with the single PocaĆuj mnie. In 2005, the band released their second album. Lidia left the group in 2006 to pursue a solo career.
Her debut solo album, Intuicja, came out in October 2006, featuring the hit single Sleep. That year, she won the audience award at the TOPtrendy Festival. Her second album, Przed Ćwitem, was released in 2008 with singles like RozmawiaÄ z TobÄ chcÄ.
In 2009, she won Polandâs Song for Europe contest with I Donât Wanna Leave. This led to her representing Poland at the 54th Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. Despite a European tour, she placed 12th in the semifinal and did not advance to the final.
Her third album, Pod sĆowami, came out in 2015. She continued to release music, including the singles Hold My Breath and Nie czekaj. In 2022, she entered Polandâs Eurovision selection show again with Why Does It Hurt, finishing last amid heavy criticism. Afterward, her fan club disbanded, citing frustration with her professional conduct.
Lidia Kopania is also an art historian, holding a masterâs degree. She studied at Adam Mickiewicz University and the University of ĆĂłdĆș. Her career blends music with personal and artistic growth, though not without challenges.
