Biography
Lavina is a Serbian metal band from Niš. In 2026, the group won Pesma za Evroviziju with the song “Kraj mene”. As a result, Lavina will represent Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna. The band has six members: singer Luka Aranđelović, guitarists Pavle Samardžić and Andrija Cvetanović, bassist Nikola Petrović, keyboard player Pavle Aranđelović and drummer Bojan Ilić. Over the last few years, Lavina has grown from a young local act into one of the most talked-about bands in Serbia. Their Eurovision victory brought them to a much wider audience, but their story started several years earlier.
The beginning of Lavina in Niš
Lavina was formed in Niš in 2020. From the start, the band chose a heavy sound with melody, strong emotion and modern production. Instead of rushing forward, the members first spent time writing songs and shaping their identity. That careful start helped them build a clear musical direction. Lavina mixed progressive metal elements with a more accessible style, which made the band stand out in the Serbian scene. In those first years, the group focused on recording and developing its live sound. Step by step, Lavina created the foundation for a larger career.
The debut album Odyssey
A major step came in November 2022, when Lavina released its debut album, Odyssey. The album introduced the band to a broader audience and showed what Lavina wanted to be: heavy, ambitious and emotional. Around that same period, the group also released early material such as “Id”. These first releases gave listeners a good idea of the band’s musical world. Moreover, they helped Lavina gain attention outside its home city. With Odyssey, the band proved it had more than energy alone. It also had vision, discipline and songs that could connect with fans of modern metal.
Building a name on stage
After the release of Odyssey, Lavina became more active on stage. During the promotional period for the album in 2023 and 2024, the band performed in several European countries. These concerts helped Lavina build a reputation as a strong live act. The group appeared in countries such as Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Greece, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. In addition, Lavina played at events and showcases that gave the band more visibility. As a result, the group slowly moved beyond the local circuit and reached an international audience.
New music and artistic growth
Lavina did not stand still after its first album. The band continued to write and release new music. In August 2024, it released “In Your Absence”. A few months later, in November 2024, “IRON WILL” followed. Then, in March 2025, Lavina released “this, too, will pass.” These songs showed growth. The band still sounded heavy, but it also explored more atmosphere and emotion. Therefore, Lavina’s music became broader without losing its identity. This period was important, because it showed that the group was developing fast and thinking ahead.
Pesma za Evroviziju 2026 and Eurovision
The biggest breakthrough came in 2026. Lavina entered Pesma za Evroviziju, Serbia’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “Kraj mene”. This time, the band performed in Serbian. That choice gave the song a direct and personal character. Lavina qualified for the final and then won the whole contest. With that result, the band became Serbia’s entry for Eurovision 2026 in Vienna. The victory was historic in another way as well, because Lavina is seen as Serbia’s first metal act to go to Eurovision. After the win, the band immediately moved into Eurovision preparations.
