Gerli Padar, born on November 6, 1979, in Haljala, Estonia, is a renowned Estonian singer and actress. She is the older sister of Tanel Padar, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001. Gerli’s career spans over two decades, marked by her contributions to music, theater, and television.​
Gerli’s journey in the Estonian music scene began in the late 1990s. She first participated in Eurolaul, Estonia’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, in 1999 with the song “Aeg kord täidab soovid,” finishing in 10th place. She returned to Eurolaul in 2002 with “Need a little nothing,” securing 3rd place. In 2006, Gerli co-hosted Eurolaul, showcasing her versatility in the entertainment industry.
In 2007, Gerli represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki with the song “Partners in Crime.” Despite a spirited performance, she did not advance to the final, finishing 22nd in the semi-final. Nevertheless, her participation solidified her status as a prominent figure in Estonian pop culture.​
Gerli continued to engage with Estonia’s Eurovision selection processes. In 2018, she competed in Eesti Laul alongside Eliis Pärna with the song “Taevas” (performed in English as “Sky”). The duo reached the final but finished in last place. In 2025, Gerli submitted the song “Võõraks jääd” for the Eesti Laul wildcard round but did not secure a spot in the final.​
Beyond music, Gerli has made significant contributions to theater and television. She has performed in various stage productions, including roles in musicals and plays. Her television appearances include participating in shows like “Tantsud tähtedega,” Estonia’s version of “Dancing with the Stars.”​​
