About
Biography
Feminnem is a pop Eurovision group from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was formed in 2004 by three young singers: Pamela Ramljak, Neda Parmać, and Ivana Marić. The group’s name is a play on the rapper Eminem’s name. They became famous for energetic pop songs and their appearances in the Eurovision Song Contest. They achieved success in the mid-2000s and 2010s with hit singles and popular albums. Over the years, the band saw member changes and a breakup, but they later celebrated a reunion and comeback.
Formation and Early Eurovision Debut (2004–2005)
Feminnem was formed after the finalists of the 2004 Hrvatski Idol (Croatian Idol) decided to start a girl band. Pamela, Neda, and Ivana launched their debut single “Volim te, mrzim te” (“I Love You, I Hate You”) in 2004. The song became a regional hit. In 2005, Feminnem represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest with the upbeat song “Call Me”. They directly qualified for the final in Kyiv and finished in 14th place out of 24 finalists. This respectable mid-table result earned them international attention.
The group’s rising popularity led to their first album, Feminnem Show, released in late 2005. This album was named after a Bosnian TV show the trio hosted, and it produced several popular singles.
Line-Up Changes and Continued Career (2006–2009)
After Eurovision, Feminnem continued making music and aiming for another Eurovision chance. They entered Croatia’s Dora 2007 national selection with the song “Navika,” finishing 9th in that competition. Late in 2007, Ivana Marić left the group to pursue a solo career. To replace her, Pamela and Neda held an audition and added a new member, Nikol Bulat. The refreshed trio released more songs and maintained their fanbase. In 2009, Feminnem (with Nikol as the third member) tried again at Dora with “Poljupci u boji,” achieving 3rd place in Croatia’s Eurovision selection. However, internal disagreements arose, and Nikol Bulat left the band later in 2009.
Despite these changes, Pamela and Neda kept Feminnem active. They soon welcomed Nika Antolos as the new third member in 2009. The first single by the Neda–Pamela–Nika lineup was “Sve što ostaje,” which quickly became a hit in the region. This period showed Feminnem’s resilience, as they continued to produce pop hits and maintain their status as a leading girl group.
Second Eurovision Attempt and Albums (2010)
In 2010, Feminnem got another big break. The group entered Dora for the third time with the powerful ballad “Lako je sve” (“Everything Is Easy”). They won the Croatian national final, securing the right to represent Croatia at Eurovision 2010. The victory was emphatic – they earned top points from both jury and public votes. This made Feminnem one of the few groups to have represented two different countries at Eurovision. At the Eurovision contest in Oslo, however, “Lako je sve” failed to reach the grand final, placing 13th in its semi-final.
Despite the setback, 2010 was a productive year for the band. They released their second studio album, also titled Lako je sve, on March 1, 2010. They even issued an English-language album Easy to See later that year. These albums contained tracks featuring all current and past members, showcasing Feminnem’s musical journey. By the end of 2010, Feminnem had solidified their pop legacy with numerous singles and two studio albums.
Disbandment and Solo Careers (2012–2021)
After nearly eight years together, Feminnem announced an indefinite break in February 2012. The decision came as the members decided to pursue solo careers. The split was amicable – the trio remained friends and supportive of each other. Each member quickly ventured into her own projects:
Neda Parmać embarked on a solo singing career. Her debut solo single “Naša stvar” (“Our Thing”) came out in 2012. She continued to write and perform her own songs, and she also took part in music projects and television appearances in Croatia.
Pamela Ramljak also went solo and released new music. Shortly after the breakup, she put out singles like “Ti me ne voliš” (“You Don’t Love Me”) and later a solo album. Pamela’s solo work often blends pop with Croatian folk elements, and she remains a familiar face on the music scene.
Nika Antolos pursued a solo singing career as well. In 2012 she released her first single, “Vječno za ljubav” (“Forever for Love”). Nika also explored other creative outlets; she has written songs, done radio hosting, and shared her personal life (including motherhood) with fans on social media.
During the group’s hiatus, the former Feminnem members built their individual identities in the entertainment industry. They occasionally hinted at nostalgia for their group days, but for a decade Feminnem remained inactive.
Reunion and Recent Activities (2022–Present)
In May 2022, Feminnem surprised fans by announcing a reunion after ten years apart. Pamela, Neda, and Nika rejoined forces, ecstatic to be working together again. They even launched a new official Instagram profile to mark their comeback. The group quickly released a reunion single titled “Zajedno” (“Together”) in 2022.
Feminnem’s comeback has been well received. They have since released multiple new songs, returning to Croatian pop charts with fresh material. In early 2023, Feminnem achieved a notable victory at the Zagreb Festival (a major annual music festival in Croatia). They won first place with their song “Trending,” performed alongside rapper Saša Antić. This marked a successful full-circle moment for the trio. Their recent singles, including “Trending” and “Srodne duše,” have charted in the Croatian Top 40, proving that Feminnem’s popularity endures. The reunited Feminnem continues to perform at concerts and TV shows.
