Biography
Christine Guldbrandsen is a Norwegian singer born on March 19, 1985, in Bergen, Norway. She started singing at age three in a local church choir, showing her talent early. At 13, she was discovered by music producer Kjetil Fluge. By 15, she performed at a big event in Bergen called “KulturbyĂĄpningen” in 2000, where Sony Music noticed her and offered her a record deal.

In 2001, at 16, Christine wrote her first song, “Fly Away,” as a tribute to her father, who had passed away. Her first album, Surfing in the Air, came out in 2003 and became a hit, selling over 30,000 copies in three weeks, earning a gold record. She released two more albums in Scandinavia: Moments in 2004 and Christine in 2007. Her fourth album, Colors, was released in 2011. She sings mostly in Norwegian, Danish, and English, and her voice is often described as clear and angelic.

Christine became famous internationally when she represented Norway at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Alvedansen” (The Dance of Elves), a Nordic folk song with Norwegian lyrics. She won Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix to earn her spot and finished 14th out of 24 in the final. In 2007, she performed again at Melodi Grand Prix with a medley of her songs.

Besides singing, Christine acted in musicals. In 2008, she played Cosette in Les Misérables in Bergen, which sold out and was a huge success with over 42,000 attendees. In 2010, she played Maria in The Sound of Music in Norway. She also starred as Vigdis in Mostraspelet on Bømlo in 2009, a historical Norwegian play.

Christine loves writing her own music and has co-written many of her songs. She also joined a project called NAVIA, singing “We Can Fly” with artists from Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, and Africa to spread a positive message through music. In 2010, she started a side project called Nightingales with other Norwegian singers.

She is known for her strong, beautiful voice and has performed at events like a Madonna tribute concert in 2008 and Christmas concerts in 2010.
On April 8, 2011, Guldbrandsen released her fourth album, Colors, which included ten songs composed and written by multiple contributors, including herself, Kjetil Fluge, Hans Petter Aaserud, and Eivind Buene.

Guldbrandsen took on the title role of Kristina in Kristina från Duvemåla at Bømlo Teater’s Moster Amfi, announced on March 29, 2021. This followed her successful role as Gabriella in Så som i himmelen at Nordland Teater, for which she received glowing reviews. She expressed excitement about diving into the musical and historical depth of Kristina’s story, anticipating a “magical” experience with the production team.
