Recap First Rehearsals Day 2

Today we have watched the first rehearsals of day two. In our opinion Belgium put down the best reheasal of the day. Croatia, Norway, Romania have some serious work to do. Cyprus and Israel were oke. Azerbaijan had a strong rehearsal, with some little dance issues. Ukarain’s act is not specificly our cup of tea, but the act and vocals are very good in its kind. Bookmakers favorite Malta did not impress yet.

1st Rehearsal for Bookmakers Favorite Destiny for Malta

Destiny appears onstage in a pink outfit, just like her dancers. Destiny lives up to all expectations vocally. “Je me casse” is a swinging, dynamic song, but as yet they don’t know how to convey the dynamics. It must now be said that both the favorites of 2018 (Netta) and 2019 (Duncan) did not impress at all during their first rehearsal, and we all know how that ended.  In Cooperation with     Eurovision Artists Photo Credits: EBU

1st Rehearsal Ukraine

Go_A appears on stage with singer Kateryna Pavlenko in a greenish robe and the men, both the two musicians and the dancers, in white. The dancers have a kind of luminous halo that they keep behind their heads. They are in the middle of what most resembles a forest after an atomic eruption. There are many and intense visuals. Towards the end we see people who seem to be on the run from something. Vocally (whether you like her voice or not) this performance was fine. Strong first rehearsal for Azerbaijan’s Efendi

Efendi is dressed in a sexy black outfit, just like her 4 dancers. Everything is right, vocals, the act, choreography. The background has strong visuals, with a large copper sphere. The whole looks and sounds a little bit Egyptian, as if Efendi also wants to do her “Cleopatra” from last year some credit too.     In Cooperation with     Eurovision Artists Photo Credits: EBU

1st Rehearsal Romania

Roxen alternately stands and lies on stage, in the midst of her dancers, who are dressed in black and white. Roxen still seems to be wearing her regular clothes. Regarding her pronunciation: Roxen sings in English, which is not always clear. Also vocally there is still some gains to be made. In Cooperation with     Eurovision Artists Photo Credits: EBU

1st Rehearsal Israel

Israeli Eden Alene is anything but alone on stage. She is surrounded for three minutes by a group of dancers in the midst of which she also dances. The whole act takes place on a plateau of bluish triangles. Eden experiences that dancing and singing are quite difficult at the same time; towards the end of the song she gets a little breathless. At the very end, she provides another surprise: in the last second she suddenly has a completely different hairstyle! In Cooperation with     Eurovision Artists Photo Credits: EBU

Rehearsal Belgium

Sober and yet by no means boring, that’s how we could describe the performance of the Belgian band Hooverphonic. Singer Geike Arnaert stands amid four platforms on which the musicians play their instruments. Geike as well as the others are dressed in black. In the background, on the LED screens, we see Geike again. Her singing also makes a deep impression in the virtual press center. The group shows that a song can still make a big impression without too much adornment.   in cooperation with Eurovision Artists   photo credits: EBU

1st Rehearsal Croatia

Albina sings in English, but also in Croatian. She does this on a background of pink and blue laser beams. The dance and the stage are fine. Vocally, there is still some work to be done, especially the high notes still sounded very impure In Cooperation with     Eurovision Artists Photo Credits: EBU

1st Rehearsal Norway

Just like during the National Final, TIX is dressed in a long white cloak and wears wings and is cuffed in chains. The dancers portray the demons and are dressed in black, including black wings. Vocally, he comes across as weak and nervous, which he probably fully realizes himself, as he ends his rehearsal with “Oh F * ck!” In Cooperation with     Eurovision Artists Photo Credits: EBU

1st Rehearsal Cyprus

Elena Tsagrinou starts her act lying down dressed in a silver-colored dress. Lots of dance and visual effects (causing her to drop her microphone). She is surrounded by red and mirrors on which graphics are projected. Vocally she is stable, except for a big slip-up. In Cooperation with     Eurovision Artists Photocredits: EBU
