Biography
Rebeka Dremelj, born on July 25, 1980, in Brežice, Slovenia, is a multifaceted Slovenian personality known for her work as a singer, model, actress, TV host, and fashion designer.
Dremelj began her career in the public eye by winning the title of Miss Slovenia in 2001, which led to her participation in the Miss World 2001 pageant. At the Miss World Talent Show, she secured second place, resulting in a contract with Sony Records London.
Following her success in pageantry, Dremelj pursued a music career. She released several albums, including “Prvi korak” (2002), “To sem jaz” (2004), “Pojdi z menoj” (2006), “Nepremagljiva” (2009), and “Differo” (2010). Some of her notable singles are “Ko ugasnejo luči,” “Prvi korak,” “Nisem kriva,” “Ne ustavi se,” “Ne boš se igral,” “Pojdi z menoj,” “To je prava noč,” “Daj mi daj,” “Slovenski superboy,” “Vrag naj vzame,” “Petek 13.,” “Sončno dekle,” “Ribica,” and “Brez obraza.” In 2008, she represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Vrag naj vzame,” although she did not advance to the final.
Dremelj expanded her career into acting and television hosting. She appeared in the Slovenian film “Na svoji Vesni” and the American film “Hey DJ” (2003). Additionally, she hosted various television shows in Slovenia, further establishing her presence in the entertainment industry.
Beyond entertainment, Dremelj ventured into fashion design, creating her own line of women’s underwear under the brand name “Rebeka’s Dream.”
In 2011, Dremelj married Sandi Škaler. The couple has two daughters: Šajana, born on September 17, 2012, and Sija, born on December 3, 2016.
As of late 2024, Dremelj was preparing for a series of Christmas shows at the Spasteatre in Mengeš, Slovenia. The initial show sold out quickly, leading to the addition of multiple performances over two days. These shows featured elaborate costumes, dance numbers, and Christmas carols.
