Denmark: Fyr og Flamme wins Melodi Grand Prix

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2021 is won by the duo Fyr og Flamme with the song “Øve os på hinanden”. Fyr og Flamme will thus represent Denmark in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam and will perform in the 2nd semifinal. Uku Suviste represents Estonia

Uku Suviste has won the Estonian national final with the song “The lucky one”. Uku was supposed to represent Estonia last year but that didn’t happen. He will take revenge this year. Festival di Sanremo in Italy

Tonight, 26 songs and artists will compete in the Italian Festival of Sanremo. After the contest, the first question at the winner’s press conference will be asked by Eduardo Anselmo, Italian head of delegation for Eurovision: “Are you going to Eurovision?”. The winner has the first choice to do so, but can also reject the ticket. The show starts at 21.00 CET and you can watch it here. Second Chance in Sweden

Sweden is about to add four more songs to the final of Melodifestivalen. Tonight it is time for “Andra Chancen”, where songs that didn’t make it to the final can still get the ticket. The show starts at 20.00 CET and you can watch it here. There will be four duels: Alvaro Estrella – Baila Baila vs Lillasyster – Pretender Frida Green – The Silence vs Paul Rey – The Missing Piece Eva Rydberg & Ewa Roos – Rena rama ding dong VS Clara Klingenström – Behöver inte dig idag Klara Hammarström – Beat of Broken Hearts VS Efraim Leo – Best of Me Alvaro Estrella took part in Melodifestivalen in 2014 but only in the semifinal. In 2020 he was 11th in the final together with Méndez. Paul Rey also reached the 2020 final and became 6th. Klara Hammarström didn’t make it to the final that year. For Eva Rydberg, Melodifestivalen was longer ago: in 1977 she became 7th.

Tonight: Dansk Melodi Grand Prix

Tonight is also the night for Denmark: in their national final Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, eight entries will fight for the ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. The show starts at 20.00 CET and you can watch it here. The songs are: Nanna Olivia – Hvileløse hjerter Fyr & Flamme – Øve os på hinanden Chief 1 & Thomas Buttenschøn – Højt over skyerne Mike Tramp – Everything is Alright Claudia Campagnol – Abracadabra The Cosmic Twins – Silver Bullet Emma Nicoline – Står Lige Her Jean Michel – Beautiful Mike Tramp represented Denmark in the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest as a member of the band Mabel, singing the song “Boom Boom”. Chief1 wrote two Danish Eurovision entries: “Should’ve known better” for Soluna Samay in 2012 and “The way you are” for the Anti Social Media in 2015.

Estonia selects a song

After two semifinals it’s time for Estonia to make a choice. The transmission starts at 18.30 CET and you can watch it here. The songs are: Egert Milder – Free Again Suured tüdrukud – Heaven’s Not That Far Tonight Hans Nayna – One By One Ivo Linna, Robert Linna, Supernova – Ma olen siin Karl Killing – Kiss Me Uku Suviste – The Lucky One Sissi – Time Jüri Pootsmann – Magus melanhoolia Redel – Tartu Koit Toome – We Could Have Been Beautiful Andrei Zevakin & Pluuto – Wingman Kadri Voorand – Energy Egert Milder took part in Eesti Laul 2015 but didn’t reach the final. In 2020 he became 4th. Kaire Vilgats (Suured tüdrukud) became 8th in 1998 and 9th in 2009.  Karl Killing became 6th in 2018. Sissi, the daughter of former Eurovision winner Dave Benton, became 4th in 2020. The guys of Redel reached the 3rd place in 2013 as members of the punk band Winny Puhh. But there are no less than 4 former winners tonight. Ivor Linna represented Estonia in the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest with “Kaelakee hääl”, in duet with Maarja-Liis.   Jüri Pootsmann sang “Play” in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. Koit Toome even represented Estonia twice: in 1998 with “Mere lapsed” and in 2018, together with Laura, with “Lost in Verona”. Uku Suviste won last year’s Eesti Laul with the song “What love is”.
