(2010) Biography George Alkaios, born George Vasileiou in Athens on December 24, 1971, embarked on his musical journey after showing an early interest in both music and athletics. After a brief stint in Boston, Massachusetts, due to his family’s relocation, Alkaios returned to Greece where his career in entertainment began to take shape. His initial exposure to the broader public came through his participation in a Greek reality show in 1989, which paved the way for his entry into the music and theater scenes. Alkaios’s career in music officially kicked off in the early ’90s, with his debut album “Me Ligo… Trak” released in 1992. This album marked the beginning of a prolific period for Alkaios, as he consistently released new music, capturing the attention of the Greek audience with his unique blend of pop infused with traditional Greek and Eastern elements. Following his debut, Alkaios released a series of albums annually, with “Ach.. Koita Me” in 1993, “Den Peirazei” in 1994, and “Entos Eautou” in 1995, each building on the momentum of his career and establishing him as a significant figure in the Greek music industry. His musical output continued unabated with the release of “Aneu Logou” in 1996, followed by “En Psichro” in 1997, demonstrating his versatility and depth as an artist. In 1998, he released “Ichoi Siopis”, and in 1999, “Syrmatoplegma” came out, further cementing his status in the music scene. The turn of the millennium saw Alkaios exploring new musical directions with the release of “Pro Ton Pylon” in 2000 and “Oxygono  in 2001. In 2002, he took a slightly different approach by releasing an EP titled “” Karma”, showcasing his ability to innovate and adapt to the evolving music landscape. In 2003, Alkaios released “Kommatia Psychis”, followed by “Aithousa Anamonis” in 2004. These albums were succeeded by Alkaios Live Tour in 2005, offering fans a taste of his dynamic live performances. His subsequent albums, “Nyhtes Apo Fos” in 2006, “Eleftheros” in 2007, and “To Diko Mas Paramythi” in 2008, showcased his continued evolution as an artist. The year 2010 was particularly notable for Alkaios, as he represented Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “OPA!”. He reached the final and even an 8th place there, in addition to releasing the album “Dos Mou Ligo Fos”. He continued to release new music with “Deja Vu” in 2011 and then took a brief hiatus before returning with “Marionetes” in 2015. In 2021, Alkaios made a significant comeback with three albums: “Mosaic”, “My Utopia”, and “Zero Room71”, demonstrating his unwavering passion for music and his ability to remain relevant in the industry. Throughout the years, Alkaios also released several singles and EPs, including “Pnevmata” and “Ta Magika Sou Chilia” in 2016, followed by “Mia Psychi” and “Ligo Fos” in 2017. Entries OPA! Frans, who has a twin sister and a younger brother,  is bilingual as his father has roots in Nigeria (Frans’ grandmother is from Nigeria, his grandfather is British) and from the age of eight lived in England. Frans has also lived in London intermittently throughout his life. At the age of fifteen, he studied, among other things, music there for a year. He attended the nature program at the high school in Ystad. As a seven-year-old, Frans Jeppsson Wall became nationally famous when, before the 2006 FIFA World Cup, he sang the backing track to the group Elias’ song “Who’s da Man”, a tribute to Zlatan Ibrahimović. The song was followed by an entire album, “Da man”.  Jeppson Wall participated in Melodifestivalen 2016 with the song “If I Were Sorry”. He won and thus represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. He reached a 5th place in the final. The song became a hit in Sweden, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The follow up song “Young like us” also reached the Swedish charts. In 2017 the song “Liar” reached the no. 4 spot in the Swedish Heatseeker Charts. In 2019, Frans won the Polish music award “Bursztynowy Słowik” (Amber Nightingale) which is the annual music award given at the Sopot Festival in Sopot, Poland. On July 24, 2020, he released his first album, “Present”, digitally, with nine songs. He was born in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. He chose his stage name as he was a fan of Waylon Jennings. In 1995 he started singing in the tv show Telekids. He signed a record contract in 1997 and was allowed to record an album in Nashville. However, it was never released. In 2001 he lived and worked in the United States for a year . He appeared in the show of his idol Waylon Jennings with whom he also worked. Jennings passed away and Bijkerk returned to the Netherlands. After his return, he sang in the bands Santa Rosa and Millstreet. Waylon joined Rachel Kramer in 2005 as the duo ‘Rachel & Waylon’ in Het Nationaal Songfestival, the Dutch national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2008 he reached the final of Holland’s Got Talent. Despite the fact he did not win, this marked his breakthrough. His first record, “Wicked way”, became a huge hit in the Netherlands. It was followed by a debut album, “Wicked ways”, in 2009. In april 2010, he won a 3FM Award as ‘best newcomer’ and a TMF Award as ‘new talent’. In october 2011, his second album “After all” followed and he won another 3FM Award, now for ‘best singer’.Together with Ilse Delange, Waylon formed The Common Linnets. They represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Calm after the storm” and became 2nd. After Eurovision, the only performance of the two together was at the Tuckerville concert in Enschede, organized by The Common Linnets. After this concert, Waylon left the band.Two solo albums followed: “Heaven after midnight” (2014) and “Seeds” (2016). Meanwhile, Waylon was a coach in The Voice of Holland. In 2018, Waylon took part in the Eurovision Song Contest again, now as a solo singer with the song “Outlaw in ’em’. He reached the final again. The song was also released on his new album, “World can wait”. A tour with the subject ‘outlaws in country music’ followed: My heroes have always been cowboys. In december 2019, Waylon released a 6th album, “Human”. He mostly accompanied himself with the guitar. In total, his videos have been viewed over 50 million times. In 2010, he signed a record contract. In 2011 he took part in The Voice of Germany.  Michael Schulte reached the final became 3rd. With his title “Carry Me Home” he reached the top 10 of the German charts. In 2012 he released a debut album, “Wide Awake” which became number 1 on the German charts. Most of the songs on the album were written by Schulte himself. In December 2012 he released an EP “Grow Old with Me”, including his second single “You Said You’d Grow Old with Me”. Schulte made a tour in spring 2013 and presented his album throughout Germany. He played a total of 29 concerts, one of which was in Vienna. In November 2013, he published the Christmas album “My Christmas Classics”. He also accompanied the British boy group Blue in the preparatory program for their tour of Germany.  In February 2014, Schulte released a new single, “Rock and Scissors” and a new album “The arising”. He was awarded the PlayAward in the Music category at the VideoDays in Cologne. From March 2017, he played the role of Micha in the three-part  television series Neomaniacs. In April 2017, he released a new album: “Hold the Rhythm”. In 2018, he represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “You let me walk alone”. Being one of the favorites in the contest, Schulte reached a 4th place for Germany. In june 2018,”Die Kinder der toten Stadt – Musikdrama gegen das Vergessen” was released; it was both a musical for radio and an album. Schulte played one of the main roles. The play tells of the children captured in Theresienstadt, their lives there and their murder in the Nazi death camps. In 2019, a new album appeared called “Highs and lows”. His single “Back to the start” hit the German charts. In 2020, when the Eurovision Song Contest was canceled, Schulte sang in the replacement show Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light, in duet with Ilse Delange. He was born in Linz. Sampson worked as a social worker for years. Cesár has worked in the music business as a producer for many years, including with the Symphonix International producer collective. He formed this team together with Borislav Milanov, Johan Alkenäs and Joacim Persson. The team was responsible for several Eurovision entries. As a backing vocal, Sampson was on stage at the Eurovision Song Contest twice in a row, in 2016 and 2017, representing Bulgaria. In 2018 he was chosen to represent his home country Austria with the song “Nobody but you”. Sampson won the jury voting, and became 3rd overall.In 2019, Sampson released a single “Stone cold”, followed by “Where are you” and in 2020 “Lazy suit”. His first single, the song ‘Čarolija’, was released in 2002, and with it he introduced himself to a wider audience at Dora, the Croatian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. The very next month, Jacques signed a contract with the record company Croatia Records. In 2003, he took part in Dora for a second time. His song “Na krilima ljubavi” became 5th. In 2004 he participated again. “Nema razloga” was good for a 4th place. In the same year, Jacques’ debut album “Čarolija” was released. He also dubbed the voice of Aladdin in the Croatian version of the Disney movie. In 2005, he was present at Dora again, “Nepobjevida” reached a third place. A new album, “Kad is sretan”, was presented too. A 5th attempt in Dora also did not give him the victory, but in 2006 he became 15th in the final with “Umrijeti s osmijehom”. Again, this lead to a new album, “Živim za to”. In the 2007 parlementary election, Jacques Houdek sang the anthem of the conservative HDZ, “HDZ zna”. In the same year, Jacques released a live album ánd a compilation album. In 2008, no less than two brand new albums saw the light: “Idemo u zoološki vrt” and “Crno i bijelo”, and another live album came out. A new album, “Najveći Božićni Hitovi”, was released in 2009, followed by a live album and a compilation album in 2010. In January 2011, Houdek placed fourth in the finals of the Open Mic UK singing contest held in London’s O2 Arena. He also participated in the British TV show The X Factor. However, he was unable to continue his participation in the contest because he did not receive a work permit in time. In the same year, he participated in Dora again and now became shared first. Unfortunately for him, the jury decided to select another singer for the song.  The release of a new album in Croatia came in 2012: “Meni za ljubav”. In 2015, a compilation album was released, and in 2016, a brand new album came out: “Tko je, srce, u te dirn’o?”. In 2017, Jacques Houdek was internally selected to represent Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest. With his song “My friend” he managed to reach the final and ended up in 13th place there. Two years later, Houdek was involved in Dora and Eurovision again, but now as a composer. He wrote “The dream”, the Croatian entry, for Roko Blažević. The song did not reach the Eurovision final.
