He was born on May 14, 1983. He began his musical journey at 13. His education encompassed both the practical and theoretical aspects of voice and piano, culminating in a certification in voice coaching from the Victoria Music and Arts College in London. Vella has been recognized in the Malta Music Awards with two nominations for Best Male Artist. His notable second-place finish at the Malta Song for Europe in February 2010 with “Just a little more love” marked a significant achievement in his early career. Vella gained widespread recognition as a frequent performer on several Maltese television shows such as “Kalamita,” “Showtime,” “Sas-6,” and “Sibtijiet Flimkien.” His voice has been featured in numerous radio and television jingles. He has also played leading roles in a variety of musicals on the Maltese islands, including standout performances in “Jesus Christ Super Star,” “Godspell,” and “AbbaMania.” His popularity has made him a regular in local entertainment events and concerts organized by various entities. Additionally, he co-founded the Animae Gospel Choir, a leading Maltese choir composed of renowned singers and musicians. Throughout his career, Vella has worked with several esteemed Maltese composers and lyricists, releasing singles that have found audiences in Belgium and The Netherlands, among other countries. He has participated in numerous local and international music festivals, securing the Fidof Award three times. His performances at the Malta Song for Europe festival, which he first joined in 2005 with “Appreciate,” stand out in his career. Glen also achieved success at the Golden Stag Festival in Braşov, Romania, receiving the Jury Award for “All I Am,” a song by Paul Giordimaina and Fleur Balzan. In 2011, Glen Vella won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with “One Life” and represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest the same year. On November 21, 2014, Vella competed in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2015 semi-final with “Breakaway,” advancing to the final round held on November 22, 2014, at the Marsa Shipbuilding, where he finished third with 39 points and also won the televoting prize with 1,804 votes. As he co-founded the VocalBoothStudios in 2014, Glen Vella was also the coach at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2016. In 2017 he performed at the Eurovision events J’Aime La Vlie in the Netherlands and the Eurovision week Berlin in Germany. In 2018, Glen Vella was among the composing team of “A Thousand Times”, a song that Angie Ott sung in the Swiss national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. In January he performed at V18 opening show, as Valetta was the cultural capital of Europe that year. In August 2019, he performed at Eurostarz, a Eurovision event in London. In 2020, Glen hosted Kaxxa Daqq, a daily tv-show for children, for a couple of months. In the same year, he teamed up with Pamela Bezzina and Angela Tirchett for the christmas song “Ersaq Qrib”. In the revived 2021 Muzika Muzika competition, he emerged victorious with his song “Harsa Biss”. The following year, he was featured as a guest performer during the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022’s special night, an event that serves as Malta’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. At the age of six, he joined the music group named Bülbüllər founded by Aybeniz Haşimova as a lead singer. Mammadov completed his secondary education at Elitar High School and continued his studies at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. He also worked at the Baku Jazz Center. In 2011, Farid Mammadov participated in the 3rd week of the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Milli Seçim Turu. However, he did not make it to the final. He released his first single “Gəl yanıma” in 2012 Two years after his first attempt, he was more lucky: again, he participated in Milli Seçim Turu. In the final, he came first with the song “Hold Me” and thus earned the right to represent Azerbaijan at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest held in Malmö, Sweden. In the Grand Final, he reached the 2nd place. The follow up song for his Eurovision performance was “K tebe”, and in 2014 “Hər an Yanımda”. In 2015 he performed at the closing ceremony of the 1st European Games, along with Sabina Babayeva. In 2016 Farid Mammadov married and moved to Los Angeles.
