Katarsis

Katarsis is a Lithuanian alternative rock band that formed in Vilnius in 2019. The group includes Lukas Radzevičius (vocals, guitar), Alanas Brasas (lead guitar), Emilija KandratavičiĆ«tė (bass), and JokĆ«bas Andriulis (drums). Radzevičius initially launched the project as a solo act; however, as demand for live performances grew, he brought in other musicians and gradually shaped Katarsis into a full band. As they continued performing and refining their style, the group gained increasing recognition for their distinctive sound, which fuses alternative rock with post-punk influences.

“Tavo akys”

Katarsis’s Eurovision entry, “Tavo akys” (English: “Your Eyes”), features lyrics by Lukas Radzevičius and production by Jurgis Masilionis. The band released the track on 31 January 2025, and it quickly attracted attention for its emotional intensity. From a musical standpoint, the song highlights Katarsis’s signature alternative rock style, while also weaving in clear post-punk influences to enhance its atmosphere. Thanks to this unique blend and its heartfelt delivery, “Tavo akys” has earned widespread praise for both its emotional depth and strong composition.

Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest

Lithuania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 24 times since its debut in 1994. The country’s best result came in 2006 when LT United finished 6th with the song “We Are the Winners.” The last few years, since 2021, Lithuania always manages to reach the final. The Roop even reached an 8th place!

A Random Lithuanian Entry

Reflecting on Lithuania’s Eurovision history, random.org chose 2001. That year, Skamp represented Lithuania with the song “You Got Style,” finishing 13th. Skamp was known for their unique blend of hip-hop, funk, and pop, and they remain popular figures in Lithuania’s music scene. Singer Erica Jennings took part in the national selection on several occasions, even in recent years.

Betting Odds

As of now, Katarsis’s “Tavo akys” holds a 21st position in the betting odds for winning the Eurovision Song Contest. In order to win semifinal 2, they are in 6th place. That means there is a serious chance for a 5th consecutive place in the final for Lithuania.

We eagerly await the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel and look forward to witnessing Katarsis’s performance on the grand stage.
