Early Life and Musical Beginnings
As a child, Vanna participated in youth music festivals in the former Yugoslavia and won several prizes. In 1990, she made her debut performance at the Zagrebfest music festival in Zagreb. That same year, she moved from her hometown of Koprivnica to Zagreb to attend university and pursue music. While studying, Vanna performed as a backup singer in the band BOA, gaining valuable stage experience.
Rise to Fame with Electro Team (ET)
Vanna’s professional breakthrough came in 1992 when she joined the Croatian dance-pop group Electro Team (ET) as the lead vocalist. She was the lead singer and co-wrote all the band’s songs. ET quickly rose in popularity on the Croatian music scene. In 1993, they scored a major hit with “Tek je 12 sati,” a dance track that was later hailed by critics as the Croatian “hit of the decade” for the 1990s. In 1998, Vanna left ET to embark on a solo career.
