Biography

The Allisons were a British duo, excisting of Bob Day (31-12-1939) and Brian Alford (2-2-1941). Brian already sang in a duo in 1958, “The Shadow Brothers”. But when the other Shadow Brother decided to quit, Brian went along with Bob Day. They now called themselves The Allisons: Bob and John. They took part in a talent competition and sent in some songs to record company Fontana. Fontana was impressed and decided to submit one of the songs, “Are you sure?” to the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. They won, and also nearly won the international final with their song. It became a worldwide hit. The follow up “Words” and “Lessons in love” also reached the UK charts. Unfortunately, no big hits followed and the duo split up in 1963. Incidently, they performed together, the last time in 2012. Bob Day passed away on 25 november 2013.
