Biography
Six4One was a multinational pop supergroup formed in November 2005 with the sole purpose of representing Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens, Greece. The group was a unique project, bringing together six vocalists from six different countries to create a one-off collaboration under the guidance of renowned German producer and composer Ralph Siegel, a Eurovision veteran known for his numerous entries in the contest. The group’s name, “Six4One,” symbolized the unity of six individual artists coming together for a single purpose: to perform for Switzerland. Unlike traditional bands, Six4One was not intended to be a long-term act but rather a temporary ensemble of “six strong voices” that would disband after the contest.
The concept for Six4One was developed by Ralph Siegel in collaboration with the Swiss national broadcaster, SRG SSR idée suisse. Instead of selecting an existing band or artist, they opted for a casting process to assemble a diverse group of talented singers. Auditions were held at Munich’s Olympia Studios from November 25–27, 2005, where Siegel and a panel from Switzerland’s three major broadcasters (SF DRS, TSR, and TSI) chose six artists from an undisclosed number of applicants. The selected members were:
- Andreas Lundstedt (Sweden): A member of the successful Swedish pop group Alcazar, Lundstedt brought pop and Eurodance experience to the group. He later continued his career with Alcazar and as a solo artist.
- Tinka Milinović (Bosnia and Herzegovina): An opera singer and TV personality with a Master’s degree in music from Louisiana, USA, Milinović had previously competed in Bosnia’s Eurovision pre-selection in 2005.
- Claudia D’Addio (Switzerland): The only Swiss-born member, known as “The Voice” in Switzerland, D’Addio gained fame through the reality show MusicStar and had three Swiss number-one singles. She later performed under the stage name Diamá.
- Liel Kolet (Israel): A young Israeli singer known for her multilingual abilities, performing in seven languages, including English, Italian, and Hebrew.
Each member brought a distinct musical background and a degree of recognition in their home country, which was intended to attract votes from their respective fanbases during the Eurovision contest.
Eurovision 2006: “If We All Give a Little”
Six4One performed the song If We All Give a Little, composed by Ralph Siegel with lyrics by Bernd Meinunger, another frequent Eurovision collaborator. The song, a slow, ballad-like pop anthem with a message of unity and cooperation, was selected through an internal process by a jury from Switzerland’s broadcasters. It was officially introduced to the public on March 18, 2006, during the SF1 program Benissimo.
Thanks to Switzerland’s strong performance the previous year, Six4One was guaranteed a spot in the Eurovision final, bypassing the semi-finals. On May 20, 2006, in Athens, Six4One placed 16th out of 24 entries, earning 30 points.
As planned, Six4One disbanded after the Eurovision Song Contest, with members returning to their individual careers. The group recorded one album, If We All Give a Little, which charted at number 86 in Switzerland for two weeks in April 2006.
Andreas Lundstedt rejoined Alcazar, which continued to enjoy success in Sweden and internationally.
Claudia D’Addio adopted the stage name Diamá and pursued a solo career, performing at events like Europride 2009 and Zurich Pride Festival, and releasing singles such as Drivin’ Tru and 8 PM.
Tinka Milinović, Keith Camilleri, Marco Matias, and Liel Kolet continued their careers in their respective countries, though their post-Eurovision activities were less prominent in mainstream media.
