Biography

Monroe is a French-American singer set to represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. She has quickly risen on the music scene thanks to her powerful lyrical voice and captivating stage presence. Despite being only 17 years old, Monroe already has a diverse background in classical music and theatrical performance. She started out singing in a small church choir. Now she stands on the international Eurovision stage. This journey showcases her talent and determination.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Monroe was born in 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to a French mother and an American father. She grew up speaking both French and English at home, as her mother ensured a “double culture” upbringing for the family. As a child, Monroe sang in her local church choir and discovered her passion for classical music. She also learned to play the piano and received formal vocal training to nurture her extraordinary voice. Monroe participated in musical theater productions and a youth opera program. These experiences helped hone her acting skills and stage presence in her formative years. Her influences range from opera mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli to pop icon Céline Dion. This broad range of inspiration shaped Monroe’s musical style and versatility.

Breakthrough on Prodiges

In late 2024, at age 16, Monroe auditioned for the 11th season of Prodiges, France’s classical music talent show for young performers. She was encouraged by her aunt in France to enter before she passed the age limit. On the show, Monroe displayed exceptional vocal talent and charisma. She impressed the Prodiges jury and audience with a powerful rendition of Mozart’s “Queen of the Night” aria. Monroe ultimately won the competition in January 2025, becoming that season’s champion. This victory brought her widespread recognition as an outstanding new talent in France. Winning Prodiges also earned her a recording contract with Warner Classics. This triumph set the stage for Monroe’s professional music career and her first album.

Debut Album and Rising Career

After Prodiges, Monroe signed with Warner Classics and began working on her debut album. In November 2025, she released her self-titled album Monroe, which showcases her operatic vocals and versatility. Critics praised the record for its elegance and musical richness. The album features classical arias as well as crossover standards. For example, Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” appears alongside Édith Piaf’s “L’hymne à l’amour”. It even includes “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz.

After the album’s release, Monroe embarked on a concert tour across France. She performed in historic churches and cathedrals to bring her music to diverse audiences. A highlight of this tour was a scheduled show at the Vatican’s “Jubilee of the Poor” event in Rome. Pope Francis was slated to attend and speak at that event. However, once Monroe was selected for Eurovision 2026, she had to postpone some of these concerts to accommodate rehearsals. These live performances have helped Monroe continue to build her reputation. She connects with audiences through both classical repertoire and popular standards, further cementing her appeal.

Eurovision 2026 and “Regarde!”

In March 2026, France Télévisions confirmed Monroe as France’s Eurovision Song Contest 2026 representative. Her entry is the song “Regarde!” (meaning “Look!”), a track that blends elements of opera, musical theater, and contemporary pop. Fred Savio, Fredie Marche, and the violin duo Violin Phonix co-wrote “Regarde!”. The song delivers a heartfelt plea about love as a universal language despite differences.
