Biography
Miodio is a pop-rock band with electronic influences, originating from San Marino and Italy. Formed in 2002, the group gained recognition as the first act to represent San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The band was established in 2002, comprising lead singer and pianist Nicola Della Valle, bassist Andrea Marco Pollice, guitarist Paolo Macina, drummer Alessandro Gobbi, and keyboardist Francesco Sancisi. In 2007, they signed an exclusive contract with the record label Opera Prima and released their debut single, “It’s Ok,” which received airplay on numerous national radio stations. This track was also featured in the soundtrack of the film “Il Soffio dell’Anima.”
In 2008, Miodio was internally selected by San Marino RTV to represent the nation in its Eurovision debut. They performed the song “Complice” during the first semi-final in Belgrade, Serbia. Despite their efforts, the band did not advance to the final, placing 19th in their semi-final with five points.
Following their Eurovision participation, Miodio continued their musical endeavors:
The band competed in the Golden Stag Festival 2008 in Brașov, Romania, performing “Complice” and “Oltre le nuvole,” the Italian version of “Dincolo de nori,” a song by the Romanian band Holograf. They also participated in the Pjesma Mediterana festival in Budva, Montenegro.
In 2009, Miodio released the single “Evoluzione Genetica,” which they performed at the Wind Music Awards 2009. They also took part in the online competition Sanremofestival.59 with the same song, finishing among the top ten finalists.
The band submitted the song “Perdo contatto” for consideration in the Newcomers’ section of the Sanremo Music Festival 2010. Additionally, they submitted the track “I Feel” to the Swiss selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.
Miodio released their first full-length album, “Avantgarde,” featuring singles such as “Rock’n’Roll Robot” and “Chiudi gli occhi.”
In 2022, Miodio collaborated with artists Fabry and Labiuse to participate in “Una Voce per San Marino,” the national selection event for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. They performed the song “Blu” and finished in 11th place in the final.
