Biography

Mess was a duo, excisting of Lizzi and Fritz, teamed up especially for the Austrian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Their song “Sonntag” won and represented Austria in the contest. The duo also released the titles “Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So oder so”, “Träumen von Olivenbäumen”, “Cabrio” and “Ich will ein Eis” and the two English versions of the competition entry “Honey Bee” and “Sunday”. After this, Mess dissolved.


Lizzi, full name Elisabeth Engstler (6 may 1960) is a tv-host, musical star and singer. After Mess, she started a study at the conservatory of Vienna. During her studies, she played the main role in a musical. After that, she hosted several shows on tv, like ‘Wurlitzer’, ‘Ich und Du’, ‘Die große Chance’, ‘Happy End’, from 1995 until 2007 with Wolfram Pirchner ‘Willkommen Österreich’ and ‘Frisch gekocht’.

Fritz, officially Michael Scheikl, but also known as Michael Mell and Mosaro, started his career in 1976 with the Austro-pop band One Family. In this band he was not only the singer but also the percussionist. In 1980 he started a solo project under the name of Fritz. After Mess, he sang in a band called Joy, They had an international hit “Touch by touch”. In 1998 he started the project Mosaro, together with his (now former) wife Karin Sahrea.
