Biography
Laura Thorn, born on January 22, 2000, in Luxembourg, is a singer and multi-instrumentalist. She began her musical education at the age of eight, studying music theory, piano, cello, and dance. Initially focusing on classical music, she later pursued a master’s degree in music theory, music pedagogy, and modern singing at the Higher Institute of Music and Pedagogy (IMEP) in Namur, Belgium. After completing her studies, she began teaching at the Esch-sur-Alzette Conservatory of Music in Luxembourg in September 2024.
In 2024, Thorn was approached by Parisian producers Julien Salvia and Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal, who were seeking a singer for their new song. Following a recommendation, they invited Thorn to perform their composition, which was later titled “La poupée monte le son.” The song was submitted to the Luxembourg Song Contest 2025, serving as the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. On November 18, 2024, Thorn was announced as one of the seven finalists. During the final held on January 25, 2025, at the Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette, she received the highest points from the international juries and placed second in the televote, securing her victory and the opportunity to represent Luxembourg at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.
Thorn’s musical style is influenced by soul, jazz, cabaret, and musical theater. Her Eurovision entry, “La poupée monte le son,” pays homage to France Gall‘s 1965 Eurovision-winning song “Poupée de cire, poupée de son,” reflecting on themes of autonomy and empowerment.
In addition to her teaching and performance career, Thorn continues to engage with audiences across Europe, showcasing her musical talents and representing Luxembourg on the international stage. Laura Thorn reached the Grand Final and had a 22nd place there.
