Semi Final Allocation Draw

This year the allocation draw for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 has took place in Liverpools’ St. George’s Hall. AJ odudu and well known Rylan hosted this years event. Right before the actual draw happened, the mayor of last year’s host city Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, handed the Eurovision Key over to Joanne Anderson, the mayor of Liverpool.  At first the Big Five including: United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, plus last year’s winner Ukraine have been drawn for in which Semi Final the opposing countries will vote in.  These are the results: After the big five we’ve had the other 31 participating countries be drawn into two Semi Finals. Austria: Teya & Salena will sing in Liverpool

photo: ORF   A lot of Eurovision news comes in these days. This morning, radiostation Ö3 announced that Teya and Salena will represent Austria. The song, of which we don’t know the title yet, will be presented the 8th of March, International Women’s Day. Both Teya and Salena have some Eurovision experience. Salena did an attempt in the internal selection in 2019 and Teya in 2020. Under the name of Thea Devy, Teya took part in the 2020 Serbian national selection with the song “Sudnji dan”. Teya in the Serbian final in 2020. Salena in The Voice Germany in 2017. The announcement for the Eurovision Song Contest (in German).

Heddy Lester passed away

Heddy Lester At the age of 72, Dutch singer and actress Heddy Lester passed away. Heddy Lester is especially known in The Netherlands for representing the Netherlands in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest. Carreer pre-eurovision Heddy Lester started her carreer in 1971, when she had a huge hit in The Netherlands with the “Railroad song” as half of the duo April Shower. The duo also toured throughout the USA. Since 1974 Heddy performed solo and in 1977 she won the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. De Mallemolen “De mallemolen” was composed by Heddy’s brother Frank Affolter. After the Eurovision Song Contest Heddy has been seen especially in theatres. The last role she played was in the Dutch movie “Groeten van Gerri”, where she played the role of a mother. There have been times when she didn’t want to sing “De mallemolen”. She wanted to concentrate on other things in her carreer. The last few years she embraced the song again. In The Netherlands it became a Eurovision classic.

Spain: Benidorm Fest starts

Tonight is the night: Benidorm Fest will start. Benidorm Fest is the Spanish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. The show starts at 22.50 and can be seen here. Out of 9 songs, 4 will qualify for the final. The songs are: Agoney sings “Quiero ardar” Alice Wonder sings “Yo quisiera” Aritz Aren sings “Flamenco” Fusa Nocta sings “Mi familia” Megara sings “Arcadia” Meler sings “No nos moverán” Sharonne sings “Aire” Sofia Martín sings “Tuki” Twin Melody sings “Sayonara”   Agoney took part in Operación Triunfo 2017. He became 5th.
